This statement could not be more true. There are a hell of a lot of little things that need to be changed over. But again as Trouty said, get a parts car, it really is the easiest way.

I think if you want bang for buck tho, go the 6cyl Turbo.
For say, $4000 you will have a crazy 6cyl EA but for the same money you will have a stock standard EA V8.

When I began planning my build I spoke with some engineers first. They did tell me that it wouldnt be as easy getting a Mod plate for an EA V8 as the EA never came with one. Mind you, it naver came with a turbo either........ The choice is yours.

Id say, go the Turbo 6.

But if you decide on the V8 swap, give me a yell, i'm sure I can give you a few hints with it. Have a read of my "Keeping you posted 5.8L EBII" thread. Its full of info on the V8 swap.

Thanks for the info i do appreciate it, i still love
the sound of a v8 , nothing comes close to the
sound of a v8 note .
Just wish id bought a late eb
or ed to avoid the work invloved.

What sort of cost would u look at for a engineer
to do a v8 swap to ea model ,what is involved as
i have not delt with one for over a decade.
I know all the crap they define but it has been
a long time.

Well i'm In queensland and you would be looking at around $165 for an engineer to Mod Plate the swap. More if you have a different gearbox, but not much more, maybe $90 extra.

It must look relitively stock, be a nice tidy job. You must replace all the parts on your car that were different to V8 spec. (Eg. Suspension, 4 wheel disc brakes, K frame) You must run all emmisions gear. It is a VERY good idea to install an engine that is much newer than your car, they like that. Always a good Idea to raplace the brake booster with the V8 version (I havent dont this yet).

Obvious things like, the car must be in roadworthy condition, not too low, exhaust not too loud. And no dodgy work.

Call up a couple of engineers and ask them first if they would have aproblem withy ou putting a V8 into an EA which never came with a V8 option from the factory.

Using a V8 parts car, this could be a quite an easy and relitively cheap swap. Dont do what I did and buy everything seperatly. Its a nightmare.
