But to the nay sayers/baggers, Get a life! This would be awesome even if it does wear a Holden badge.

It would be bloody hard to walk past some other cars if you had that coin. But then again you will be able to buy those later if you wish, the last HSV will only go up in value long term you'd think so might be the cheapest you will get it.

A $165K Falcon or Commodore is pretty irrelevant to your average wage earner in Aus, that have been Holden's bread and butter since day dot. Nice halo car for a car which will no longer need a halo in 2018. The VFII Redline is/was a better 'present' 'gift' to those people, fantastic car for the money and attainable. Nothing wrong with the car I'm sure it'll be a cracker albeit a expensive one, just Dowlings language irks me.

The article read as the GTS will be made in basic form in Adelaide, then shipped to HSV for an engine transplant with the LS9. Does that mean each new car will come with a spare backup LSA engine??........ha ha ha.....!!
I've been a Ford guy through and through all my life, but with no FPV on offer, these do look like a pretty awesome package, but probably not worth the cash at the end of the day...... |

Good on HSV, I have no love for their cars but certainly can appreciate the engineering and dedication to give the public the cars. They bend the figures sure and certainly have more capital but they certainly know how to stick it to the bean counters and greenys. The current GTS could have just had the LSA transplanted in but they went the extra mile and built the rest of the car around it. I have no doubts that they will do the same with this new one. They will take a standard GTS and improve on what they can. I would expect maybe 8piston calipers up front, huge wide rear tyres as well as a bespoke new look. I hate knowing in my heart that they can do that and Ford cant, the red team get exactly the send off we should have got here in the blue camp rather than Fords limp wristed efforts. Forgetting the price and even the total power figure for me its the fact that HSV have gone and built a last ditch hero car. Would have loved to have seen Ford do the same. I wouldn't have been able to buy one but at least I would know it existed and there was always hope if I won the lottery.

The Falcon going out with a whimper may be disappointing, but at least the performance side will taken by the Mustang. Conversely I'm not sure what Holden will have post 2017.

we all knew holden would out trump any final falcon offerings & I take my hat off to any everyday holden owners who can cough up the coin for one & enjoy it, tbh if I was in the market for one & I did consider it tbh I reckon from hearing that i'd just go a GTS & modify it for my power needs & still have change.

I congratulate HSV on going out with a bang.
Ford finished off with some nice machinery and two beautiful engines although in factory form are held back considering the options available in the Ford Racing parts bins. But definitely very capable and worth every cent. A GT-HO would of been nice, but how would we feel if the GT-F or similar had of been a HO then HSV raised the bar knocking it off its perch. All of a sudden the HO isn't king and the name is tarnished. As for the price tag, I am sure die hard HSV owners will scramble to order one, just as as Ford fans would if a GT-HO was released with a heavy price tag. If we are talking same price tag for a GTHO with a Ford Racing Cobra Jet engine setup and big power they would walk out the door. |

165 grand? with high po VE on holdens the design work is already done, the parts are already tested and in production fitted on other GM vehicles like Cadillac's and Camaro's, so basically parts bin specials (awsome parts bin btw)

Not worth it. A premium of $10-20k over a GTS maybe.....but not that much.

Good on Holden for this send off
If I won the lotto I would want to get my hands on one as I am saddened of the passing of Aussie made muscle cars. Glad I am a Ford fan though as there final send off was within my budget |
