im just glad they look noticable different from the BA models,
the GT front bar looks good, the Phoon's bar looks a little strange in those pics but i think it would look hot in the flesh

If those pics a the real thing, then these new line-up of FPV's would of been worth waiting for.The front bars on both the F6 and GT look awesome. The only thing i disagree with is the F6 BA rims looked nicer than the current line-up.The GT rims are the pic of the crop though they have to be the best looking wheel out on the market. Well Done FPV they look the goods.

Hello Typhoon! Thats the best looking without a doubt in my mind, has the boy racer style to it. Also, i think the tyhoons front bar is a glimps of what is to come with next all new falcon. Looks awesome!

Don't think FORD designers and engineers passed their physics exams....... weight = slow = lack of performance.....
You would expect that sort of weight in a luxury model....... actually........ the GT weighs more than the Fairlane...... LOL

BA MK1 XR8s might be quicker off the line than the BF FPV GT!

Oh my we are going through this again....

While obviously weight is an issue, but gearing can make a hell of a difference. Wait untill you drive one then tell me that they are slow.

I would assume if the gearing has changed on the new BF FPV's then performance will be improved over the BA FPV's regardless of weight.Fuel consumption is also down which is a big +.These new FPV's already make the BA FPV's look some what out dated. :monkes:

Well if that's the new look i'll keep mine thanks the rear looks ok and brembo's more money for pads and the front spoiler doesn't do it justice looks like a recess there must be a small number plate!!

They should be sorting out the powertrain and build quality before they bring the new model out changes in cosmetics won't cut it to those that have had a few problems with there cars.

well if i remember correctly the old 4 speed had a 2.71st gear ratio while the 6 speed has a 4.11 first gear ratio,so it will get up and boogy alot quicker in my view.

i honestly have a feeling this is bs just because of the fact that fpv has been so secretive about them and kept them all hidden away and then why would a magazine like motor be permitted such info and close up shots like that, im just gonna wait for the release at the motor show, i personally think theres gonna be a surprise model of some sort

Which is why IMHO I think the Fairmont Ghia is a better luxo cruiser than a GT or GTP is a performance sedan, which are more like a luxo cruiser with a body kit and lairy stuff. Hell not much diffrence between them I would think with the ghia only 20nm down on a 290Boss and now they have simular rev ranges. Certainly nothing a supercharger couldn't fix.

While I wasn't expecting wholesale changes. Most people would have wet their pants if the FPV range had Alloy 5.4 blocks as the only significant update. Ford has them, they just have to put them in. It would improve weight and handling and make the FPV range really stand out from the Ford range.. Unique blocks can do that (ala HSV LS2).

I rule FPV off my list because of the standard brembos. Way to much to charge for consumables (pad and disc), and now with territory discs standard, the performance diffrence would only be slight, and only at a track. I would have perfered Brembos as a option not as standard equipment.

If you want something fast, buy HSV if you want something nice by a Ghia or a Calais. If you want tarted up whore handbags then FPV have just the thing.

FPV have been getting more gimicky.. Take a look at the purity of say a AUIII TS50. Then BA MKI GT, then the MKII then the BF.. More addons (stripes, more stripes, more badging) bigger wheels, etc. They certainly haven't got any faster than a TS50.

When a car becomes more marketing that driving substance then you have to call into question the credentials of said car.

Personally I think that is where FPV is headed. HSV was there, with the clubsport sausage machine. Sure you will have volume. But that will die away (as it always does) and you will be known as the ever popular Hyundia excel australian sports sedan.

But maybe thats just me. People always about anything new.

I am sure as the Brembos do become standard across the range they will be cheaper to replace parts and pads.I find it quite amusing that you state a Fairmont Ghia will be a better luxo cruiser than a GT-P but i suppose it's all up to the individual and age.

Different cars for different needs. Some people want the image of a FPV, others do not.

One thing that is strikoing me here, is the fact that the "Ford" models, fairmont, ghia, xr etc etc, and coming closer to FPV range in performance. Especially the 3v......

Tell me, what is going to make me want to buy a FPV when a fairmont ghia and some simple mods will be quicker than a GT-P????????

The difference between the models is so slim, i call it poor on FPV's part.

FFS Whinge moan.... all you have seen is a scan of a magazine.

It is real easy guys, if you don't like the BF FPV range DON'T BUY ONE! There are lots of choices out there for you.......

The price of EA MPFI fairmonts is getting down to the $2000 range so grab one of them instead.
Or be an individual and buy a VZ HSV (nobody else is).

If, all of a sudden, the 400m times drop to mid 13s due to the transmission upgrades I am fairly confident that the same whingers will be complaining about something else.
AMG mercs weigh more than GT-P and seem to be able to do 12s..............

From what I have seen so far I think they will be great. Now I have to convice myself to replace my 6 month old BA2........ mumble mumble mumble.....

I wish people had the slightest clue about engineering and what's involved in making fundamental changes...

It was never going to happen for the FPV update... Such changes would require another set of fundamental crash analysis and CAE analysis and crash testing.. Ford, not having the luxury of being able to spend endless amounts of money on an update to model that is approaching its end... is just not justified. People have very unrealistic expectations.. but that happens when they don't know what's involved.

On the subject of alloy blocks, that too would require new crash analysis and testing, it won't happen until ALL V8's have migrated to alloy blocks across the range, most likely in the all new falcon.. that way development cost will be consolidated across the entire program.

...And don't get so caught up in the on paper specs, reality just might paint an entirely different picture.. i highly doubt that the standard 3V will be anywhere near the performance of the BOSS powered cars.

I want to congratulate FPV on achieving something that would be impossible in any back yard.

If I read that right and there has to be doubt about some of the accuracy regarding minor statements and additions, but the BF picks up dual air intake and a different exhaust with a dedicated tune for those two features. That’s a sensational achievement to keep those peak numbers the same.

Lets hope so.....a factory GT running under 14 would be nice. BTW not whinging...just making an observation with what info we have....If the magazine scan is fake, then I'll retract my previous comment.

50kgs, thats almost an extra passenger....and i truely hope the 6 speed more than compensates. I see myself owning a GT in the future, much prefer one over HSV, and it would be fantastic if I can get a mid 13sec factory GT when I can afford one

Exactly!

You'll also notice how the article claims that FPV have acheived something by being able to keep power at previous levels now that the BOSS engines are euro3 compliant, yet all other engines in the linup were able to GAIN power and torque while complying to euro3.

There is no way the BOSS powered cars are at the same previous levels... it's all politics and i'm affraid we have now reached the peak of advertised power increases.

E55 AMG, although being 1950kg, has a 5.4 Supercharged V8 with 350kW @ 6100rpm and 700Nm @ 2650 - 4500rpm. 60kW more power then a GT, 180Nm more torque, and a fatter torque curve... and the power/weight difference is awesome... 290kW BAII GT = 158.9kW/tonne and 284.9Nm/tonne... 350kW E55 AMG = 179.48kW/tonne, 358.97Nm/tonne.

Well... looks like I know which BF I'm going to lust over.... 6spd auto XR6 Turbo :
