He's the damn purchaser!

question is... Can he pick them up and pay the nice man the monies or not?

I've over 380 feedback and have never had an issue with a 0 feeback buyer (most need guidance if theres a problem) sellers with neg/0 feedback are the real problem.

Should of stuck to your guns mate, when u are seller you dictate terms. If you don't have their money then they dick around. Iif u have their cash, u can bet they will pick them up on time....

Pay before you play on Ebay - just a little ditty that cam into my head (yes I'm bored at work) :togo:

Why? The seller still has the goods in his possession. He hasnt lost anything except some time and hassle with ebay fees. A pain, yes.

How would the buyer know the seller even has the brakes? I mean its not like ebay is full of scams . : $1,500 is a good little scam. Never underestimate a scammer. I only ever pay on pickup for items like that.

Not saying the seller is scamming, as it appears not.

Arguments for both sides, what if he gave his address out and the dude came round and clocked him and stole the brakes (its happened on ebay before).

Thats the risk of using the site.

If someone has heaps of feedback they are hardly going to just start ripping people off for no reason. But if someone has no feedback then they pose more of a risk as their bonafides haven't been established.

I've been ripped off on ebay before, but got well and truly even with the scumbag.

Without getting verified contact details for the buyer I wouldnt be giving them mine. Asking someone to deposit $1500 sight unseen has more front than Myer. Paypal is no help.

Admittedly the listing suggests cash before pickup, so the buyer should be aware. However, it doesnt actually say it, the buyer has to work it out from the facts. I see it, I check those things each time, but a new buyer wont know to. Could be clearly stated in the listing and that it only applies to new buyers.

Could use COD, although if the buyer refuses to take them, the seller is stuck with COD costs and return delivery

Paid a dude 70bux for an item, he didn't send it, then he left me bad feedback even though i paid for nothing. Checked his feedback and he had done the same thing to another bloke for the same item he had relisted. Ebay did nothing. So i requested his details from ebay found out his address pretty easily, then I ............

$1500 for the brakes may be cheap, but a scam isnt going to net 1500 for a keyring. I could argue selling on ebay has an element of risk. The scenario you mentioned earlier would occur far less than a scam sale. Pay on pick up seems the least risky of the options presented.

We have bought and sold heaps on ebay, but from my point of view as a buyer, I won't buy anything of value unless I do 2 things, firstly I won't buy from overseas or interstate and second, if it's a high value item, I email the seller to ask their suburb and if they will take COD and I pick up. If the seller won't agree, I don't bid or buy.

I sold a reptile enclosure I made once to a guy on eBay, made another one and he said he'd take that too. I trusted him, so I let him take it and pay me 2 weeks later. He didnt pay, didnt answer phone, never heard from him. Tracked him down through another eBay member he sold a laptop to that didnt work, he was MORE than happy to give me his address.

I sent him a text message saying I was coming over with a mate to get my money, got no response for a day. Sent him another sms with just his address in it, got a call from his dad within 10 minutes offering to pay haha, then a call from the police soon after. Scumbags.

Exactly, the seller dictates the terms. If you don't like it, don't buy it. simple

I recently sold a set of brembo's on ebay for $55oo and the guy was from New Zeland after he had paid, took him about 5 weeks to arrange to get them. Originally he said he was in syd once a week and he'd catch a taxi out to pick them up then he asked me to send them to his company's office in the city. It cost me $55 to send them and he was going to send the money thrugh but i told him not to bother.

Iv'e bought and sold the best part of $5o,ooo worth of parts through ebay this year and have never been ripped off yet, what sh*ts me tho is people who don't leave feedback for the expensive items. I make a point of paying within 15 mins of the auctions end or shipping asap usually the next day once an item has sold, some people cant do wither within a week.

What annoys me is when you buy things and pay within 15 min as I also do but the seller won't leave feedback until you do.

paypal is the easiest way and safest way i find with using ebay

firstly your GARUNTEED up to $3000, if he dont give the goods or tries and do a runner or gives false info then you call paypal, tell them and every experience ive had the money is in your account again in 2 or 3 days.... its all verified with your credit card, so doing a runner means you go no where, they just charge the refund to your card and whatever else they want...thats your debt for life

you as the bidder are entitled to go look at it without paying prior to details getting released, if thats the way he wanted to do business then it should have been in the decription and YOU wouldnt have bidded because you dont agree with that (hypothetically)

if he has it in his description well you have to do as the description says, if not well its one of those things where, the auction has ended YOU (as the buyer) was suppose to finalise ALL enquiries and inspections of the item BEFORE it ended, you are then responsible for PAYING for the item within the sellers deadline.

thats the way ebay works, im not saying you did wrong i didnt even read half the thread, if you did everything by the book, well send him an email explaining all that and if he is not happy to play then relist his item he will

goodluck if you havent already sorted it

Shane & Scott

Good to see things have been sorted out . :

Nothing to do with the last transaction ....
---------------------------------------------------

One thing that "Gripes" me on eBay , is when you place a Bid , the Bidder is "Entering a Binding Contract" once you confirm your bid .

Now this has happened to me 5 times in the last 3 weeks = also a number of times over the last year or so .
I've been the winning bidder , but within hours Before the Item is due to end , you get a notification " Goods Have Been Withdrawn From Sale " or " Goods are No Longer Available " .

Next thing , 3 -4 days later the same goods are advertised again , Starting price $0.99 , and yet on one item it was up to $247-00 and in the title it was listed "NO Reserve". (mainly computer gear)

It might not mean much , but I'm keeping a list of the sellers and sharing it with my mates and are refusing to Bid on any of their goods , just so happens one of my friends has spent over $5,500 with one of the sellers this year , but has also had goods withdrawn he's been bidding on with this seller and was getting p****d off with him .

I reckon if a Buyer is Entering into a contract to Buy , the same Contract should be placed on the seller too .

What do you guy's think ?

It's nice to see that Scott has the time to jump on this site, but no time to give me a call about the brakes that he has agreed to purchase from me, the auction ended on the 10 th of this month, he's had plenty of time to come and pick them up, and has even bailed twice at coming to my work place to pick them up, several SMS's and no response, not good Scott!!!!!!!
