I was just thinking I reckon 2 Chrome cups would suit your car! But depends I guess.

I wouldnt put them just inside the car, I reckon Il try 2 cups on the bonnet, if I cant get the right look il just sell them off.

No loss, if I like it, then Il buy the gauges there after.

I'd be worrying about theives rather than police, you wont be able to park anywere anymore simply because of the gauges.

Hahah awesome. You got the right attitude. Thats the way I see it, you dont see many of them, so why not do something different.

But then again, we might not see a lot of them due to the cop trouble, and possible issues with wet weather as well lol

Just thought of the wet weather problem.. :nutsycuck

Yeah theives are another issue, especially living so close to dandenong lol

Would be bad if they got stolen, but more of an issue is the damage they'd do when taking them! They dont seem to do anything neatly, just rip it and run. Bonnet would look like shiit after haha.

But I would be ****ed if they got stolen!

Power to back them up? :

Do you have to have 400RWKW to justify having a Oil pressure gauge or a Volts gauge? lol

Volts and oil pressure would be handy to have, thats why MOST not all, stock clusters have them.

they look pretty good.
i would just be worried about A Holes ripping them off or ****em up just to be A Holes.
nice paint and the housing of the guages in the body colour with chrome outer rings on the guages would look nuts. i would also say the back light colour should be similar to body colour as well.
brad
Thats a good idea actually, backlight colour similar to the body colour!

Thats the bad thing, dickkheadds ripping them off would be the biggest worry.

Depends if you want more police attention and an extra point for the canary.

They look good on old school cars, not plastic cars.

Absolutely!

Being different should be what more of us strive for, no matter how subtle or obvious. As long as the gauges will serve a purpose and aren't just 'rice', but it's your car and you should do what you want.

As for that bergundy ED in the pics above...WTF?!

Don't put 'em in the middle, that looks crap. Keep the things in front of the driver FFS.

Keen to hear how much cop trouble people have with gauges on bonnet.

I know that they are not acctually illegal...its just how they are installed (postsition, etc)

To be legal they must:

- Have smooth edges
- Guage/Cover must not be more reflectable than body of vehicle
- Lighting must be same density as instrument panel
- Must not prevent an uniterrupted view 11m in front of car from any driving seat postion.

I give my car a fair bit of shiit, and even with the trans cooler it heats up a great deal. I can feel the heat come through the stick, the floor and the console.

Wouldnt hurt to see what temperatures its hitting, and wheather they are safe or not.

As for the guages lookin "stupid in the middle", if you look CLOSER you will see that they are slightly to the left. They are here for a reason, so the drivers view is not obstructed!!!!!!!
I dont know about you but i like to see where i'm driving

Now for everyone else inquiring....
I had the guages inside on the dash, but after seeing other cars with them on the bonnet i changed my mind.
After getting my car resprayed i was hesitant to drill into the bonnet, so me and a friend made up custom brackets that mounted on the front of the bonnet.
As for the "shift light", its actually a warning light.
Waterproof??? Yes if you do the job properly then you can wash your car all you want.
As for parking.... This is not my daily driver which is why i wanted to go "all out" on appearance.
I also have a trans temp on my a pillar.
Sorry for the long reply but i couldnt stand people assuming on my behalf

Thats awesome man, even though I dont like them that much, I still think they look tough.

What sort of gauges are they, brand wise and reading?

Did you get them installed or did you do it your self, and have you had any cop trouble with them on there?

Sorry for all the questions, just want to get it all right before I do it.

Ahhh okay that explains it then, you had the gauges on the inside first. Didn't think it would be a warning light as it was mounted so far away from the driver.

My post was not an assumption it was a question..... cheers

Do they hit the windscreen when you open the bonnet?
