Was one of the first guys to own one in OZ.Actually my car was in the blueprint mag as there wasn't any other BA GT's around for the write-up. Nice bit of history right there.

I must admit that when I first saw the darkened images of the BA GT on the ford website, I knew that I had to have one of these. I waited until the MK II and from memory, my GT-P was build 46.

I genuinely believe that the BA was the best looking modern era GT.

I remember hearing that the 1st 400 or so BA GT's had a different ring package and wilder cams, but due to the public compliants about the car rocking due to the wilder lift cams and the oil consumption issues due to the moly rings the combo was changed.I wonder how true this is and I wonder if Ford will release some info when there gone.

I remember when the 'P' in GT-P stood for performance.

BA series 1 were by far the best looking of the lot. The GT-P always had my attention.

I was hoping the P might have meant performance but it was more likely "Premium" as engine/transmission were the same as GT.

IMO, this GTP was more "muscular" looking than my R-Spec, particularly from the front. It had a real stealth look with not having the stripes. Plus, it had a pretty easy life and this was one reason why, after 9 years of ownership, it was (and is) a great looking car.

That second photo was just clowning around but it was sad.

My wife had sympathy for me and after we decided not to sell the house she allowed me to get the R-Spec! (Almost 1 year now!)

I remember in 03 I bought a BA XR8 in Mercury Silver and a mate bought a 03 BA pursuit, it rocked heaps on idle.

Not sure why they changed but my 05 BA MKII GT doesn't rock as much....

I couldn't afford one at the time so I bought one about 2 years ago. It's in Blaze and has done 70,000 k's.

It's in really good nick and people can't believe how old it is. A great car... Never had a breakdown or issue with it at all. I hope to hang onto it for a long time.

Got the magazine today, good article although i wish it went a bit more into depth of the development of the Boss 5.4L Engine programs and perhaps some comments from John Bowe the development driver at the time.

It refreshed what i said earlier in this thread about the feeling of optimism and progress of the Ford Falcon brand at the time, it reminded me why my BA is so special to me, the memories from that era and why it will likely be with me forever albeit in a fairly modified form.
