I have only reached 3 psi of boost on petrol, this is because of the pump. To run on both I just push the dash button to switch LPG and petrol. I am just looking for a au fuel pump at the right price then it will be working on both.
RE the dyno figures I am a little scared of the dyno after my 1uzfe powered RN85 Hilux only managed 132 rwhp on the G-tech. But I need to tune it on the dyno so I will need to bite the bullet and strap it down. |

Seems very low, even for a low boost setup. My near stock XR6 is putting out the same amount.

On 6 psi my eb made 150rwkw.
He mentioned the car was otherwise stock. If the exhaust is standard it will be strangling it!

Aside from your fully sick creations, my car is stock except for the turbo and the 3 inch mandrel bend exhaust (this was fitted on Monday).
Dont forget it has 790,000klm's on it. I dont have an intercooler AND Dont forget it has the N/A gas set up in place this means the intake size is restricted to 50mm. Again, I was actually pretty happy with my result ! |

I too saw this guy advertising a turbo kit on ebay, it was cheap as chips but was a bit wary.
From your experience would you recommend the kit? BTW don't the falcon just kicks a**, 790,000ks and still going strong. |

From my experience of the kit to date, and with its creator Geoff Carter, I dont think you can go too wrong. The price is right, all the gear is new, Geoff makes himself available to help you over the phone with the install. I have always wanted a turbo car (especially a custom job) but the price was always too high. I could live with the price of the snort kit. Geoff also says he will (within reason) replace parts that are found to be faulty within 12 months. Not many performance parts suppliers will do that.

I know its still a work in progress but the 135rwkw result is a shocker.
I realise the LPG is a serious restriction and that the motor is well worn and you are yet to fit importatnt accessories like the intercooler but it is bad for a turbo. I hope you find the problem and get it up and going to at least the 150rwkw mark which is where any decent low blo type turbo should get. With stock injectors and ecu I have seen N/A modded sixes pull up to 174rwk so you can see why this doesn't sound very good so far. keep working on it and let us know how you go though. The kit is cheap enough to be worth putting some development in if it can be made to work well. |

I have the cooler dummy fitted after a few hours this morning. Now I just have to plumb it it. I agree that it could be much better, I am not dissapointed though, I was enthused by the results, I will keep posting updates as I fit the parts, I will be sure to keep the dyno figures coming. I am confident I will reach my initial target of 200rwkw in the near future.

Have decided to purchase a secondhand driveline or crashed AU with driveline intact.
I fill my catchcan in about 15 mins of spirited driving (blow by and valve stem seal leakage), and the auto sounds like it is having puppies (big screech - like a spun bearing or damaged clutches, slows the car) between 1st and second, it is also flaring whenever the turbo comes on boost :(. In addition the extra power/pressure of the turbo has blown the front seal of the box. Any one have any cheap sources of crashed whole cars or cheap drivelines for an AU1? Roy |

The great things about owning an ex taxi are:
Cheap to buy and run Parts are plentiful - its not original no point worrying about OEM Parts It should be well sorted! Vinyl seats hide a multitude of sins Plastic floors do not pick up burrs (or kiddy vomit) You instantly have a relevant topic for discussion whenever you are in a taxi When I went looking for my car (I paid $3800) I was being offered EF's and EL's for $1000 including a blue slip - that would make a cheap run around! (The gas system would be worth that much!) |
