For the first time in probably half a century Ford finally have their **** together and are building better cars then ever before and all we can do is complain about the name of this car.

It’s not a performance car, it doesn’t need a tough name or a name rehashed from the 80’s. It looks to be an amazing car. The only thing Ford can do wrong is price itself out of the market. The name of the car won’t mean a thing.

That must be why it looks good. Wide cars look cool. Narrow cars looks weird and dopey imo.

175kw, why though

Just as you stated, Ford Aust have waited for the updated model with more powerful engine and new 8 speed auto. Would have been a bit of negative publicity to release the older version and within a 1.5years offer a much improved model. Some initial sales lost but a much better vehicle to come later....not to mention it also gave the Canada plant more time to lift it's game.

Edit: for comparison
Territory: 140kW@4000rpm 440Nm@1900rpm 6speed auto, kerb: 2100Kg
UK Edge: 181kW/500Nm 8speed auto, kerb: 1949kg (old model)

I agree with you. But it’s a tuff industry. Look at how popular Hyundai and Kia suv’s Are. There well priced and look good. That’s why people buy them. There is just too much choice out there. And even Bmw make a entry level x5 2wd 2.0 turbo diesel. If the endura is $45000 then yes people will see value. Look at what happened with Everest. Poor sales and they have reduced the price and brought out entry level models. It needs to be well priced or it will end up welded to the show room floor.

Yeah I rented a new Highlander when I was over there a few weeks ago.
Base model V6 Amarok starts at $69,990 + onroads compared to $52,990 driveaway over here.
Petrol was $2.30 a litre for 95 octane!
Despite the above I would happily live down in the south western part of the South Island if I could convince my wife to move.

i don't understand that logic,
what would be wrong with offering the gen 1 UK diesel Edge with 6AT and 6MT from get go?
One and a half years lost sales not getting people used to Endura and then rolling into upgraded version?

I think it was all about Ford giving Everest clean air to fly but even now, it doesn't sell as well as Prado...

I wonder why.

Doesn't the Everest sell as well as the other 4x4 ute based wagons with the exception of the MUX?

Everest is a proper off roader. Something the others aren’t. Occupies a different space.

Yeah its competitive, but you need to compare like for like.
For example you mention Hyundai and Kia suv’s
So dont compare the Endura to a Tuscon or a Kia soul(x1 size).

You will find the Sorento & Santa fe in a similar price bracket, and the Endura promises to be better, so sorry I don't see where your coming from.

PS Sante fe is not a cheap car anymore.

Complete the family yes but don't discount next gen Everest now that the yanks are on board,
some new and interesting tech will be showcased by Bronco and hopefully make it to Everest.

Hybrid and PHEV wil feature heavily in Explorer/Bronco, we shouldn't discount that in NG vehicles.
3.3 V6 Hybrid and 3.0 EB V6 PHEV is maybe a way of having your cake and eating it too..

Good looking car. Pity we had to urgently get a new car, if we had more time I'd have had a look at the ST Endura, though in saying that the CX5 is a great car too.

Good thinking!
Maybe do a swap with Toyota?
Give us the Edge rights and you can have Falcon rights?

Long time lurker here. Saw a brand new white Ford Edge/Endura on the road up here in Port Stephens (NSW) today. I realised what it was straight away as I've spent the past 3 months in Canada and saw heaps of them on the road there.

I didn't catch the registration plates on it but I'm guessing it must be a part of a fleet of cars that Ford staff are using for final testing, just like Holden are doing with the GMC Acadia.

It is definitely not the same size as the Kluger, especially boot space. I'd say it would be closer to the medium size segment than large SUV but they are definitely a nice looking car in the flesh.

Good work Tusk,

I’ve seen a blue Endura here in Victoria, 5 seats will be fine for us, but 7 would be best.

Kluger 1730H x 1925W x 4865L - boot space 529L
Endura 1734H x 1928W x 4779L - boot space 602L

Apart from 86mm in length the Endura is pretty much the same size you may have seen an Escape?

For reference
Territory 1676H x 1898W x 4856L

Yep I leaned NZ have the current model imported from Canada, which may have something to do with its price.
regardless of price Ford Australia have nothing in this segment since the departure of the Territory
