for interests sake, i paid $950 for brand new gears fitted, with a full rebuild, tightened lsd etc. if you shop around more than i did, you might get cheaper. that was with a new housing too.

UPDATE: ok the gears are all sorted now. It's totally factory styles lol! nice and quiet. I got bored the other nite so I went out and welded up a big *** wrench type thing to hold the pinion flange in place so I could undo and tighten it easily. I reckon by making this it saved me about 2 hrs work when I rebuilt the diff again yesterday ;)

The main thing I have learnt is not to interchange any parts apart from the gears. I got another shim from an EA diff courtesy of Sunshine Diffs (top blokes, very helpful btw) and also put the EA bearing cup back in place just incase it was different (I used the skyline one last time). Anyway, it went like clockwork putting it back together. Now I have the correct backlash in the gears and absoloutely no gear noise Drove it about 60km last nite and lets just say it's a bit of fun in the wet :hihi:

And I also got some Pacemaker Comp headers and a new hi-flo cat yesterday morning

How does the redback exhaust with two mufflers sound like on the freeway?
