My current Terri is serviced by my local dealer, Yarra Ranges Ford, never had a problem with them.
My previous Terri was also serviced by them without incident either. Any warranty issues would be just fixed, no arguments. The bonus for me is that because they are leased cars as part of a salary sacrifice, they send the invoice direct to the fleet company for payment and I just get a copy to keep for my records. If I was to use a local independent then I would have to pay them and then send in a claim for re-imbursement. It's much easier this way. I'll probably stick with them for our new Focus too, even though it isn't on a lease.

I do get my car serviced at Ford.
Unfortunately i have been getting very poor service at the dealer myself and my family have been going to for the last 25 years. Since that has happened I have decided to continue with dealer servicing (I cannot find a mechanic) but will move to Etheridge Ford in Ringwood which has come recommended from other XR5 owners.

For my 60K service, on a WS Fiesta, Sinclair Ford wanted $405. That was with ordinary oil too. Buying the parts myself, I had full-synth oil, champion plugs, Ford oil and air filter - all work done by a trusted mechanic that I've used for years for a total cost of $154. Higher quality oil and a $250 saving......
I had brake rotors and pads replaced at a Brake Specialist at 40K for around $250, less than half what Ford quoted me. There's no comparison. You only go to a dealer if you want to burn money. The contempt in which they treat their customers is truly astounding. Under Aus. Consumer Law, in no way does it affect your warranty - despite what Ford CRC will try and have you believe.... |

154 bucks. That truly is astounding. So the labour charge was... lets have a guess, 50 bucks. Someone is having a little giggle here.....and it isnt the poor bugger whacking in the plugs now is it. You must have been laughing your head off. No wonder you`ll head back. Seriously. How much are you goin to screw him to change the cam belt? $75?

Living up here in North Queensland I've only got 1 Ford dealer, and they're crap. They never call me back with a query, they give answers that are neither here nor there and they stuffed up my car with a simple Sat Nav install. I take mine to a local mechanic now that maintains my new car warranty.

Just clarifying here: Who said he took 2 hrs? Yes - it says 2 hrs in the Ford handbook supplied by Ford so Ford can justify charging the customer for 2 hrs labor when they take the car back to Ford.....$$$$$$$$ Oil, plugs (I changed the air filter myself, 2 minutes at home beforehand), drum/handbrake adjustment, a once over the car, 2 minute test drive and 45 mins in total time. The $154 was for the air filter, plugs, oil and labour. The oil was penrite full synth, it cost just under $30 at one of Repco's 20-25% sales (that they have every month or two...), the sparkies cost $4 each, air filter only $30 from Ford, filter $8. Not even an hour's Labor was the rest... And yes, I've been going to this guy for years and would back him anyday over any Ford mechanic from any Ford dealership in Australia. Never had any issue with any car I've taken to him - why would I go elsewhere to make excessive donations to Ford Asutralia? But each to their own - if spending an extra $250 on a service that you can get done elsewhere (with better quality materials too, mind) makes you happy, then good for you, jixel78. |
