I heard it was gonna be a 2 door coupe, with the engine in the back, driven through a Pantera ZF box.

I'm worried that we will be. What could FPV do to make the 40th anniversary GT special without spending money on a model that is due for replacement? Different, heritage?, paint/stripes/interior/wheels will not appease the market. Not if it is yet another model on the price list. The less then brillant reaction to the Force range indicates that the target market is no longer as easily appeased/fooled like it was when HSV was just starting out. Personally I hope the anniversary cars do have a strong heritage theme, both with the orginal cars and the EB and EL models, and a full on rework like the AU T3.

I wouldn't expect ANY mechanical changes.

So paint/wheels/stripes/decals would be it.

The idea of an Orion BOSS (ie. the rumoured 310KW) would be nice however.

Agreed, I reckon there'll be a special build number, special badging, different wheels and some sort of plaque on the engine or in the bay, that'll be about it.

Wonder if theyll bring back that bloody awful Blaze colour on them, wasnt it meant to be a throwback to XW's etc?

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see some 'special' developments on this and other models before 08. It certainly would help Orion FPV's business case to get the green light if development dollars was technically spent within the BF cycle, but the tech migrated into Orion..... ;)

wait and see game.

dont expect alot at all mechanically. its a special edition. no special edition in the history of falcon has been that different. At most a new colour / wheels / badging and a limited number built. two tone colour scheme would really stand out and be a true collectable.

It would be really cool if they rekindled the racing specials like the john goss. all fpr needs to do is win something.

This is my list of what I think FPV needs to do:

-Even more worked engine pumping out over 400kw
-Weight reduction of at least 200kg
-Something special and unique about the bodykit. As in make a new kit for it! This includes side skirts!
-Bonnet stripes only like the XY GT's
-Unique paint that is only availible on these special GT's
-Fully black retro interior, this includes top half of car. New gauges, something more retro going back to XY's maybe. A white interior might be pretty special too!
-New wheels, dished, shadowed.
-An exhaust system that can actually be heard from down the road at idle!! LOL!
-Possibly a standard shaker
-And defintly the super roo!

I'm hoping Ford will surprise us like they did on the last running AU's with the T3. Put a politically correct 305kw on the rump to show that Ford Aus is still kicking.

As I stated earlier......left field.
New management might want to shake it all up.

Flappist, MMS is 2nd - 12th of MARCH... 1 week away.. I think the only "trick" thing you'll see there from Ford will be FPV turbo terri.

Well its made this years MMS slight exciting now from a Ford POV.

I to doubt its anything other than a tart-up package. Maybe the ECU will be turned up the the tune of 10kws or so.

We should get off the notion of more KW's. More focus (like the Typhoon) should be placed on upping the torque and how its delivered!
KW's sells cars to kids and no-brainers. Torque turns wheels.

How do they make a V10 stick together 2 Volvo motors? Nah its probably a pushrod truck motor like the Viper has.

Most probably painted in the original XR gold with the black stripe and shadow chrome wheels with superoo stickers unique badging, interior trim and the like. I'd doubt they spend too much on it mechanically unless the cost was shared with the new model.

Nah they cut the BOSS block in half, and add a cylinder in the middle of each bank.

And yeah it's a truck donk.

Torque is of direct relation horsepower, you have one, you have both.

Perhaps we should be more concerned with the return of the GTS-R in VE guise, at MMS.

Afterall, HSV have not yet replaced the flagship GTS (the VE GTS is essentially the R8 of old)

So who said that they were going to replace it? Perhaps they will just do what FPV does with their V8's.

What we need/want:

A car that GOES HARD and is FAST !
A car that will blow the doors off the competition (domestic and import)
A car that has real road presence and has the intimidation/fear factor
A car with a bullet-proof drive train/engine combination
A car that will become a ledgend !

Ford once listened to the need's of its customers and built the XW/XY GT's and GTHO's.

Is anyone in Ford listening?

my tip . it will have a louder body kit .differant wheels, better stereo. nicer interior and unique paint . wouldn't bet on a power increase .
the timing is wrong for a 40th anniversery GT JUST BEFORE A NEW MODEL .
BUT IT WILL stand out as a unique car . it will be the best tribute to BA/BF. FPV. SO I GUESS some sort of engine upgrade or lower diff ratio , perhaps a shaker and sunroof . too . it will have all the goodies and most likely a better 1/4 mile time . to attract a potential orion buyer .
