Moar pls. Someone needs to get a book together with all these, does anyone know what happened to the archives? Also the wagon and Fairlane prototypes were apparently shown when they were giving tours of the design studio in 2010. This history needs to be preserved, as much as Dearborn wants it erased.

Correct. All of Ford Australia's plans will be hidden from us so that we won't be able to see how Dearborn undermined the Australian operation.

A company I used to work for used to be given prototypes by Ford, and in the early days Holden and Nissan as well
We used them on a skid pan for driver training, when I look back it was such a shame, 'very special cars' trashed then sent to Sims Metal, if you Google hard enough you might find some pictures of some of them

Does anyone have pictures of the other AU falcon, the design that lost out to the new edge that we know and love (sometimes hate)

Thing i love about that image is the date, 1994. Alot of people don't realise how long the design process is..

Don’t have anything against GM products. I admire the current range of Cadillac Escalades, Camaro’s and Corvettes. And my pick is VF over FGX, Holden won the last round and i’ll begrudgingly admit that. But the 2006 VE was a complete disappointment for $1bn of development. For the same amount of money, Ford Australia turned the AU into the BA, and also created the Territory from scratch.

Early EA Ford Falcon Proposal This was a stretched mid 1980s Mazda 626 that had been rebodied. It was a reaction to the expectation of higher fuel prices. The ill fated Capricorn project....... |

Could I suggest a possible merge with this thread:
https://fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11390802 It would keep all these things together. |

The scary part about Capricon is that they wasted nearly two years on it in the
early 1980s and when they finally started EA, it was roughly two years late. That's why we got XF MK II (ULP version) and form then on, Ford lagged Holden by two years |

.... but they did beat them to shut up shop (manufacturing), become profitable and make a much bigger commitment to engineering resources here ......

Probably one the reasons I get blank stares when ordering parts and tell them my car is a 93 XF.

From memory, it was a $700 million Foul Up for two years resulting in VN with a push rod Buick V6... How Ironic that Ford developed its own OHC I-6 for EA allbeit with some steam lock and head gasket issues that were squared away with EA II and 4.0 EB. |
