I'd vote for boost since I drive a turbo, but having never owned a big 8 I don't feel qualified

Plus I'm jealous of the exhaust note!

There is no replacement for displacement is the old adage, and engines like the LS series show that big power can be liberated from big cubes and rpm. The Boss engine is somewhat limited by cubes and rpm in its design.

What I am basically say is, It is all in the engine design and limitations.

Boost is a good option when cubes are not. Fuel economy will always be better in the smaller capacity/smaller cammed boosted car, but the engines are generally more stressed and are more likely to Chernobyl on you than a big cube engine will.

Both have their strengths and weaknesses.

Thanks for your input and some great points.

I've got the option of either boost or cubes with this engine, it's just that boost is the more convenient of the two options. I prefer NA but have never driven a big cube motor. The option I'm looking at would give me about 7 litres.

Looks like boost is the best option for my needs for now but if the engine ever does "Chernobyl", I can look at either flogging the blower off and stroking it then or if funds allow at the time, running both. It's great to have options.

Big cubes require big induction, you cant just upsize capacity with out upsizing the rest and expect it to perform to its best,

but an engine like this (big ci/induction) doesnt neccesarily require a huge cam, and can be fairly tame, especially with efi...
