I am BAGGING any twat that would pay $100k for one, just so they could impress other twats with how green they are.
Try not to take it so personally.
So people paying $100k plus for a GTF are just making up for a deficiency in the pants department as well then?

I had a ride in one in Italy a couple of weeks ago. So impressive in every aspect. I also managed to get into a BMW i3. Even better.

The car is absolutely gorgeous. If offers close to supercar performance 0-100 in 4.4. seconds has decent range, uses no fuel and comes with an industry first 8 year unlimited mileage warranty. What's not too like unless you're a bogan who needs the sound of a V8 to prove he has a dick ?

Mercedes-Benz are trying to entice me to update my 7 year old S Class.
They are offering a "mighty" 3 year warranty and their S500 is slower, 0-100 in 4.8 seconds, uses heaps of fuel, doesn't look anywhere near as good and costs twice as much money as a Tesla S. High end Euro pricing is a joke as are their warranty's. The new M Benz S Class is very nice and if they took their hand off it with their pricing and pathetic short warranty period we'd be talking, until then I've told them not to bother me again.
When the Tesla S eventually gets to N.Z. I'll definitely be evaluating one if offered the chance.

This is something Elon Musk made a point of, unlike the Euros, he has priced the car exactly the same in every world market (plus local fees and transport etc). The Euros here price a car based on the home market price multiplied by Pi or some such formula.
I agree, the Model S is awesome in its own right, the gen 3 car rumoured to be priced closer to $50k will be a game changer.

Thanks for that, I wasn't aware of that. Fair international pricing and a more than fair unlimited mileage 8 year warranty, near supercar performance, no petrol and looks to die for...now that's what I call a game changer !!!!!
Even the Mrs can be comfortable with the optional air suspension

Attachment 84399
my guess would be because a 21 inch wheel is heavier than a 19", every bit of weight requires energy to move it.

It would be interesting to see one of these driven across a big city in a spirited fashion , not speeding just accelerating briskly in stop start traffic with aircon running, radio on 30+ degree day, that would be a good range test.

I would like to, but i don't think they would let me use it for evaluation purposes, because i have no intention of buying one even if they turn out to be a good bit of gear.

Nah...anyone can test drive it without any obligation to buy.

If you did you might discover something very special.

Already test drove the roadster last year....0-100 in 3.9s, repeatedly.

Faster than any Holden or Ford ever made in Aus.

Sensational performance with no violence.

A bit like this...

Im curious as to what happens if you stack one and you need to be cut out of it, are emergency services being trained up in how to deal with hybrid/electric cars running huge voltages?

What happens if they cut through wires powering motors with their equipment? I'm assuming their tools would be insulated?

They've done extensive training, the Model S has a link to cut through in the front trunk, clearly labelled to isolate the car. No dangers above the floor though, cutting off the doors and roof would only have the standard risks.

I sat in one about a year ago when visiting Japan, they were just launching it there at the time. The car is SOOOO nice inside, feels very futuristic and luxurious ... I think at that price range its easily a better buy than any competing EU car sold for similar money in Australia.

I had a 90 minute test drive of the fully optioned model S Tesla today.

It is an eye opener of what is in store.

It is 310kw at the wheels at any rpm you like.

I have never driven anything comparably to it.

My mates and I agree that it is a cross between an S class and C63 Merc's.

Yes..I have driven both for lengthy periods.

The quiet in the cabin was simply tranquil.

After the test drive I got into our 18 month old C250 Mercedes and I felt like I had stepped back 50 years.

I really, really recommend anyone to sample this technology.

Verdict? Outstanding and faultless.

310kw at the wheels was pretty spectacular on the eastern freeway mate.

I have never felt torque from standstill all the way to xxx km/h like today.
