an easy solution, have the stock springs reset then you can claim the car is standard and the springs have just sagged a bit. if they tried to force all cars with sagged springs ( most cars over 2 years old)to be "fixed" there would a massive public outcry

wouldn't suprise me for NSW, don't they have to have a yearly RWC.

this word "HOONS" he uses i hope he can picture a mum in a 4wd, speeding, tailgaiting while on the mobile parking nose first up on the gutter in front of the school.

but, the other day i saw this moron in a vn so low i was suprised the fuel tank didn't scrape the road. if he has paasengers i reckon it would scrape.

Gosh I wish we had the USA's rules when it came to modifying cars. It really is sad when Yanks laugh at us for being too litigious .

Officer Plod: MMM lowered hey?
19yo minitruck pilot: Yes officer, But of course I cut my springs before August 1st.
Officer Plod: Can you prove this son?
19yo minitruck pilot: Yes here is a picture of me with a 9" grinder dated 31st July.

What a load of garbage. : And I live in QLD.

Will be interesting to see the outcome,

Cheers,

This should do wonders for the aftermarket suspension industry. I think they should should give on the spot fines if your paint is too bright or you dont have approved australian standard floor mats, or maybe just impound the car and chuck you in the big house for having a passion for something different and personalised instead we should all drive around in white camry's.

NSW govt has some real issues with wanting to control everthing in everyone's lives. I hope other states dont follow suit; although Vic is running a pretty close second by all accounts.

Sounds like a beaurocrat in a suit got shown up by someone with a lowered car or is trying to justify his job amidst the recession.

Consumer control at its best. Who are these people making the rules? old men trying to prove they can still swing a pen?

Pathetic pollotics at its best. Do something better with your "power"

common sense is not all that common, its these kinds of regulations thats met with the general publics frustration, If a cop pulled me up for a stupid thing like this I'd go off. From my expiriences of being pulled over (random, not provoked) they will check you tyres, rego and blow the bag, mu AU is to loud, to low, and rear tyres are way to wide and never had a prob. I bet itll be used as another law to rip a "hoon" a new one, just another offence to add to the list, I could go on, this ****es me off

I'm about to drop my xr6T on SL king springs and know that living in Goulburn with the police academy that i will be getting pulled over every other day. How are they going to distinguish between a lowered car and factory sports suspension like with a falcon and an xr???? WHAT A JOKE!!!!

So what about bags and adjustables?

How are these policed, or will they just abn them outright as they can be moved greater the +/- 50mm?

I would say this is exactly who this crap is aimed at. Note the term Hoons used by the roads minister so possibly a lowered car could constitute hooning and lead to hooning law being imposed. The definition of a hoon is growing in NSW govt every day.

9/10 this kind of law will only be enforced on fri/sat nights, when the Cops are sick of hoons/cruising and want a reason to get up young drivers. I don't believe these types of laws lowering/fog lights etc, really do contribute to a safer car/road. The money spent ridiculing these superficial nothings could be spent in better ways I think...

Although, if you keep yourself out of the Cops' way... your not likely to get caught. :

Yeah, and your pajero with IFS & 2 inches of lift. . . . . would have more trouble with keeping 4 wheels on the ground and have more adverse affects on steering geometry and shaft angles than a 6 inch lifted Patrol with drop arms, castor kits, properly matched and set up springs and shocks combo and a good alignment. People only drop shafts and have cars that handle like buckets when they do $%!^ house backyard jobs on the cheap. As soon as you go over 3 inches there is a lot more that goes into a good lift than buying 4 springs.
I've owned both, a 2 - 3 inch lifted Pajero, i know exactly the pit falls of it, and the dramas that come with the lift and the easy bodges to make it work. I also had a Patrol with a 6 inch lift and 35's. The Patrol lift cost me about $4000 more than the pajero lift and the proof was in the pudding. Patrol was a much safer drive on road, and turned tracks that makes a Pajero feel like the rocking horse of death feel like a corrugated road.

The problems with this, as most of the car related pollitical BS is they have to make these rules to improve their powers in controlling the lowest common denominators. If there weren't so many shiesters pushing the envelope and giving reasons for them to feel the pressure to create these rediculous pieces of legislation we'd all be better for it.

And ZA-289 i'm sorry if this post seems a rant at you, it's not mate. Just a blunt example.
