In a way I can understand how someone may hit something in peakhour traffic, but how on earth do you not notice going over a Mattress. I mean the things are bloody huge, on top of that, the car would be all over the place, and there would be a lot of noise you would think. Just another person too dumb to hold a licence.

It may have been unavoidable to run over the mattress, but even with a plastic bag, I look in the rear view to check it didn't catch on the car. With a mattress, I'd be looking to make sure it stayed behind.

Thats almost as good as one day I was at AAMI with my mum and someone rang up to make a claim........
They had just accepted delivery of their new Alfa and they didn't even make it out the driveway of the dealership. It was on a corner and they were in the driveway waiting to turn out and some C'dore Genius we around the corner burning rubber and spun the car straight into theres $62,000 alfa non-drivable and hadn't even left the dealership. Life sucks for some people huh...... |

A car caught on fire the other day at the Golden Grove village. Guy came out of the bowling alley, started it, noticed smoke so ran into pizza hut to get a bucket of water, and when he came out it was up in flames. Pretty sure it was an old daewoo.

Not nice to see what looks to be Cooper S Cabrio end up like that. If so, thats about $50K on the road. Looks like had no metal roof (cabrio) + bonnet scoop hole (Cooper S).
If my Mini (cabrio with Cooper S suspension) hit anything other than a thin magazine, you would really know about it, and you'd be on the side of the road, hell hitting a freeway expansion joint is almost enough to make me pull over, with the run-flats and all which the car in the article would have. I suppose that may go someway to explaining this. A Cooper S, with the sports suspension and run flats is HARD riding. Hitting a pothole is pretty severe, being new to the car, and maybe having passed over a few potholes before the mattress. she thought it was another big hit. Must have blunted the performance with the mattress stuck in there though. Bugger.
