Can't see any reason why not (assuming it's safe to do so). Had no probs overtaking at 160+ just north of Alice one time ;)

If it is safe and legal i'll do it every time. I hate those idiots (usually the ones with something to hide) that do 40 in a 60 zone just because the Police are. Funniest thing is that they are usually the first ones to get pulled over.

: I find that I don't need to overtake most of them as they are usually exceeding the speed limit anyways...
Just cruise on behind them....of course obeying all road rules :the_finge

Funny story, my mate had a drag from the lights one day to what he thought was a normal stock VZ commo. But this VZ happend to be an undercover cop. The cop pulled him over 300m up the road from the lights and booked him for speeding and reckless driving.
Would have been funny to see i recken! |

I try not to, because they usually look straight at me when I'm going past. Kind of an intimidation thing.
85% of the time they're going faster than you anyway.

Yes.
The generalisations in this thread and it's sister thread are a bit over the top aren't they? Police are just people like you and I.

Yep I always will go past Highway Patrol if I can sit right on the limit and do it legally. Will usually go past the divvy vans as well doing 5-10 over, they never seem to give a toss.
By the same token though I have lost count the amount of times I will be sitting on the M4 in the right lane doing about 125 and come up behind a cop car doing 110 in the left. So I will pull in behind them and sit at a safe distance doing 110. Then its so funny to watch the line of cars come up my rear bumper doing 130-140 and pull around me (who can't yet see the cop in the left lane) only to slam on their brakes and pull back in behind me (often cutting me or someone else off) once they get level with the cop car. The cops must get their jollies out of it!

I all ways do 5-10 over and past police cars no problems.
I hate the idiots that will not over take a police car and sit 5 under the limit. There no worried about 10 under fines they want the 10 over fines. Of course my car is 100% stock and no reason for the police to pick on it.

Generally will overtake if can do so legally, that said I had a scare on the New England Highway south of Tamworth. Had just got past a procession of Home Trailers, when I came across another 4 being held up by a small slow moving truck mincing along at 70ks.
Good long straight opened up , so I punch it back 3rd and overtake , was just pulling 5th pedal to the boards as I came along side said truck. It is then I notice the crime stoppers sticker and the occupants. Pulled in front and coasted back down to the limit.... lucky Also had a few runs with a HWP SS from 60k Zones to 100ks, gave me the thumbs up. Generally speaking I have found nearly all Cops ( only 1 exception) to be pretty reasonable

i think it is something about driving a ford, around my way all the hoons drive commodores, or riced out jap stuff, they always get pulled over for a "random vehicle inspection" i just cruise on by whether im next to them, go past them or am behind them they dont bother bout me.

I like to pass them when other sit back and wont go near them or the speed limit, If they are going 55 in a 60 i will pass them and they like people driving normal it's the ones that look scared they watch.
About 5 weeks ago a cop past me doing anything over 90 easy in a 60 zone about 1am (must have been late for something:P) I thought they can't tell us not to speed it's dangerous when they ignore speeds themselves, So i followed him i was only a min away from home we got to the light me about 20 meters behind he was waiting for the lights i pull up and he waved to me then dropped a Smokey Bloody cops get away with murder. He might have been going home and was in a hurry to get back to the station or something.
