It's hard when it's not your fault.

Check these stats!

Nov 04 - AU wagon backed into - no one even in the car

Nov 05 - KJ Laser shunted and written off. Wife and child in the car were stationary

Oct 06 - AU wagon backed into again - again no one even in the car!
Car goes to panel beater on the 20th of November.

At least none of the above was our fault and no money to pay out, but it's a pain getting the damage sorted out!

Hope yours is sorted soon.

Cheers,

GK

UPDATE

Just to top it all off, yesterday afternoon on my way home, I stopped at an intersection near a school to turn right.
It had just started raining, school had finished and I seen these two kids walk to their car (A little red rice box).
Anyway I looked left, no cars, right no cars, ahead no cars, looked to my right again to check no traffic and started moving forward to turn the corner.

Just as I started moving forward and turning, the little ***** heads in the buzzbox dropped the clutch in a FWD buzz box spinning it up with no control, STRAIGHT FOR MY CAR. I had no choice but to jump on the loud pedal to get out of their way. This resulted with my car understeering straight through the corner and up a big gutter.

The front wheels went up the gutter about 5 meters from the intersection, and when the front two mounted, the rear of the car then flicked around hitting gutter, doing severe suspension damage.

The little buzzbox took off and I didnt get the plates.

What a ****** day!

Wow, the damage this XR8 is receiving is crazy. What did you do in your previous life!

I'd say hang around the school and see if you spot the car again. At least that way you can give them a stern talking to...

I feel for you I really do. When the XR wen't in for repairs for my rear ender (near writeoff) I was without her for almost 2 months...

Never again :(

I drove it very slowly for the first time this morning. Had to take it to my uncle's to get looked at. It drives like a crab, sideways up the road. Not good. Should have the news ($$$) tonight.

I feel your pain dude. A couple of months ago, same thing happened to me, I was going around a car that was turning midway through a corner, they decided to go when I was halfway around them, i booted it, underteered staight into the gutter, back hit the gutter, slid around the car, over a median strip, slid between a car and a truck, back over the median strip, and straight to JAX tyre and suspension, lol.

I ended up bending my rotor, busting my ball joint, smashing my bearings in my hub, stuffing the hub, bent my stub axle straight, needed a new camber caster kit and my rim looks really bad, but its not cracked or even bent, which was lucky. All up, it cost me around $1000 to get it all fixed up. This after spending $1500 on it 7 days prior to get it lowered and some new tyres, I was left rather out of pocket.

Good luck with it all.

**** sounds like you may have done more damage than me, that might be good. You said it cost about a $1000? to fix. That would be awesome, I was sort of expecting a bit more lol. So you didnt do any damage to the body of the car?

Well, I know what you's are saying. Im a bit too protective of my baby to be letting any girl behind the wheel, and I'm a girl myself. since I've had her only 2 males have been behind the wheel.. My best friend, and my Dad.. LOL..

I have seen way to many people just do plain out stupid stuff, and the extent of the damage is unbearable!

Word of advice... WRAP IT IN COTTON WOOL..

Didnt do any panel damage, but the chassis is slightly out of place. I have a few shims on the right side where the suspension bolts up, and on the side I hit, there are none. The wheels have been aligned as far as possible, and the front left is still not able to get into the positives for camber. They said the only thing I can do, is get the cassis straightened, or watch for tyre wear, and if there is premature tyre wear, then chuck some tyres on it and sell it.

just rang up insurance company and made 2 claims

1. Mrs Backing into my car
No excess requires - Her insurance claim
No Claim bonus untouched

2. Being run off the road.
$900 Excess required at completion of work
No claim bonus reduced by 10% (damnit my premium is already $1750 p/a)

So shes at the smash repairers now. Wont see her again for at least a month....

I guess its better than having to pay $8000. Still oputs a dent in the wallet though.

I'll say, i'm not too worried about the $900 excess, but the increase in premiums is gonna hurt some... :
