The I6 intermediate will work no problems.
The V8 unit has a collet welded on the shaft to accept the V8 heat Shielding . I have used I6 units on the V8 and adapted heat shield using a press collar. I6 units are dime a dozen at the wreckers and seem not to fail as the V8 Unit due to exhaust heat. Easy to find a good I6 intermediate unit for a cheap price. Cheers Dazza |

True, Six and Eight is same Intermediate Shaft
The only difference is the V8 Intermediate Shaft has a welded on collar, bigger Bell and Heat shield Foil wrapped around it from the Factory Slide off the Heat Shielding Foil and Grind off the welds that hold the collar on and bigger bell in place on the V8 Intermediate Shaft, and it will slide straight off Slide on the Collar and Bigger Bell onto the 6 Intermediate Shaft and tack weld that on Take note of the position from the V8 Intermediate Shaft, mine was 210mm down to the top of the bell Slide back over the heat shielding Foil and your ready to go

Visual only on what they look like, left is what a 6 Cycl looks like and Right is what a V8 looks like The V8 on the right has the larger bell and foil the pic is fully converted, you can see where i have ground off the welds on the one on the left and swapped over the heat shielding and quick coat of paint black to protect the spot welds, i just use a mig, arc welder would be maybe be fine, not sure
