do they have datadot? i know from the 8s on they had datadot standard, its on just about every salvageable part on the car... panels, strut braces you name it...
what it all comes down to is that theyre basically standard lancers... just hotted up a bit... lol

viis wont have datadot unless owner fitted them.

basically standard lancers hotted up a bit...? you have absolutely no idea what you are on about. wont bother arguing the point here other than you are very wrong.

i know that might have come out a bit wrong...
theyre based on a lancer, but i like to think i know my fair share about them...
theyre awd, different panels...
roughly the same in regards to dash, interior etc...
a lot of people would be surprised how related they are to the lancer...
theres a lot of added stuff that goes unnoticed to the untrained eye...
until you service one... or even drive one...
to most people they are just a overpriced glorified lancer...

A friend of mine use to be a professional car theif but eventually came to his scences. I tell you what you can have all the security in the world but some of the tools and stuff these guys have it just doesnt matter.

A guy in Perth last year had a VK commodore worth a bucket with the best security system around in it. They got under the car cut some cable put it in nuteral from under the car put it on a tow track and gone. Was never found or anything. Disapeared off the face of the earth.

yeah its easy to do.

this car wasnt locked in a shed/garage i take it? i cant understand how a car so valuable wouldnt be locked up.

you have to outsmart thieves. there are plenty of ways of doing it too.

mind you that was pretty brazen what they did.

for everyones info, when my GT replica was knocked off, the cops turned up, did their thing and said straight up that they DO NOT look for stolen cars. If they turn up, its a bonus.

yeah i got told pretty much the same thing, they said get out there and start looking in case it was a joy ride and dumped (which it was,a neighbour spotted it). but with this amount of effort to steal it, it was no joy ride, sorry to say i dont think you'll see it again, but i think you know that really.
least it was insured for a heap

the evo 7 is practically stock. no distinguishing features apart from the fact it got badged and was left with "EVOLUTION" on the back.

thanks for the support guys, the car has not been found yet, but my boyfriend and i went all over the area looking for suspicious stuff for days.
my brother should get his payout soon when the insurance 14 day search finishes.

still shocked, but i think were getting over it.

utterly senseless the attack on the car, still can't beleive it.

Do you have any recent photos that you could post to give people a better idea of what the car looked like?

Probably stripped and being sold for parts in another state. Thats what usually happens. Sad but true.

A lot of them already have this feature. It’s activated as soon as the warranty runs out.

Ha! you'll get away with saying that here in this forum, but try saying it in www.skylinesaustralia.com.

You cant compare Aussie cars and Japanese cars. Both are made for different purposes, different markets etc etc.

Haha. Burwoods full of trucks. Every street in the area has a truck capabale of this. Burwood Rd, Shaftsbury Rd, Belmore St, Railway Pde. There are more trucks in these streets than cars. Also, being so close to Burwood rd, there are heaps of shops with empty garages behind them.

Burwood, its a busy place.

A few years ago I saw a gear locker. It could be used for autos or manuals. It was a very neatly made unit from South Africa and fitted over your gear stick. Once in position and locked with a key it made it impossible to move out of Park or first gear, so that would rule out pushing your car away.

I remember seeing an airbrushed civic about 7 years ago that lived on a driveway at Fivedock. He fitted three removable ánti ram raid' type poles around the doors and hatch so you coundn't get in when it was parked on the diveway. And if you did break a window to get in you couldn't move it.
