IMO go for the newest car with lowest kays, for the best price you can get no matter what it is, eseries would be good though

Go one of a kind, go a Goggomobile (yeah da car, i got a problem with my goggomobile. G-o-g-g-o)

older cars for a daily are a problem waiting to happen unless they are VERY clean and good condition. Also remember your going to be driving this everyday so if it were me id want a few "mod cons" at least.

id be more going the 4 cyl or staying Eseries.

mate i earn just over 70 grand a year and i detest putting fuel into my v8 all the time(mind you i own a few cars)
If i detest it what makes you think youll be able to afford a v8 at uni(unless you can walk and use your car on weekends)
Id use my brain and get a four pot pintara or some beautiful car like that and wait until you have a "career" then buy whatever you want.

I voted go for a 4cylinder... but the thing is you posted this in the E-SERIES section, straight away you already know what the majority of people are going to vote for here...

To state the obvious, an E series on LPG will have similar fuel costs to a 4 cylinder combined with arguably the lowest parts prices of any car on Australian roads. The difference is that I haven't really had to replace anything on my 4 cyl.

e-series are cheap, they are fun, and 4 cylinders are crap.

ok so if I was to go 4 cylinder..what would I get?

I dont want a bog stock laser....for example, a pulsar SSS, golf Gti..etc etc.

Im still going to have a look at a XR8, but alot of people seem to think its not such a great idea. I know I can handle the costs, but it I will have to cut down on the drinking etc etc.

If you were willing to stick to Ford, i'd say go for a TX3 Laser or TX5 Telstar, your budget should allow for a pretty decent one, depending on age and k's.

I agree that LPG Falcons are great to run! Mum's old car (AU Forte LPG) was great value for money; $30-40 to fill a tank... :P

All depends on what you want to do man, BTW the car you're selling is very nice, it's definitley worth the money you're asking for it!

Ive had a duel fuel EA...and while it was great to filll it up for stuff all, I dont know if I could go through the whole no power situation again. So if I was to go that route I would just get a 4 cylinder. I would consider a dedicated gas AU, but they are out of the price range I think. Plus the auto situation doesn't help its cause.

My car is just about sold, hopefully friday...I really didn't think it would be as much effort as it has been.

karl - oh dont you start..you sound like my missus...lol

It has a few things that if I was to keep it I would want fixed. The collective amount of stuff I would want doesn't make sense to spend on a EA. If it was a SVO or Brock etc etc I would keep it...but I got some cash and I want something different.

It's pretty obvious what the answer will be when you post it in the e-series forum. Of course everyone would say e-series. If your gonna go for a pulsar save up that little bit more and go for a gti-r. Those things are rockets! My mates getting one imported for $8000. They have the silvia s14 engine in em and theyre 4wd with the light compact body of a pulsar. Just think of the modding possibilities.

Interestingly I've just come from Option B to an EB XR8.

I had (have, am selling) a little 2.4L Pintara with exhaust, chip, 15" alloys and a manual and it is a surprisingly nippy little car. Great for when I was doing 700+km each week, every week and needing some economy but now I only do 200km and I can 'afford' a car with soul.

If you are really interested in a 4 cylinder. Look for 1990+ FWD Pintara, specifically either the Ti or the TRX. The manual's in these are LSD so they handle very well for FWD and the 2.4L 12Valve KA24E engine is quite torquey. They are every bit a quick as the SR20DE SSS and cheaper to boot.

I picked up a black, manual EBI XR8 with 177,000Km. It has extractors and exhaust, so it sounds mean, looks relatively mean and more importantly I enjoy driving it. I just gotta sort this clutch out now... :


Go for whatever you think you can 'handle' financially and also what you will enjoy!:sm_headba

afaik the import rules have changed which makes importing pretty expensive now. my mate brought in a 180sx for 6500, but compliance was another 2k on top of that. plus its had a few issue and you never know what has happened to them

and its not that obvious the response I have gotten...most e series people are open minded.

well the same as everyone here i would go an XR8. but if you had to go a 4cyl i'd say a TRX pintara or a laser TX3.

Oh just as a little update...I have chosen to stay e series.

basically id love an odler car, but for everyday maybe not such a good idea.

And all the ood 4 cylinders i like are imports, hence parts would be a ИИИИИ etc etc.

So, ill make another thread...but i still want a falcon!
