Hi, name's John, live in Darwin. Usually into quick road bikes, but needed a car and saw a 1999 AU series 1 with full books for a good price so I bought it !
It's great. After 200 Km I love the friggin' thing and will probably keep it for a few years. Going to get rid of the cassette radio and get an MP3/CD radio, and a few other things. The last Ford I owned was a 80's Escort van full of bullet holes, but the real deal was a yellow XA coupe, looong time ago. The coupes were, in my opinion, the best looking car ever produced in Oz |

Welcome to the club Corey, Erich and John.
Good to see people from more parts of Australia coming on board. So what do you do for a living? I am a website developer and screenwriter myself. John, do you have a photo of your XA Coupe you could post? Don't see many around anymore. They look so wide and tough those things. Good luck with your mods, Erich. Sounds like you have a plan!

Hey Gang. Matt from Adelaide. Long time AU Falcon owner
Car Detailing shop owner/operator. 36 y/o. High end detailing only. no car yard work etc. only detail cars that owners care about. I have many passions/hobbies. cars are down the list however. never been a real car enthusiast. first car was an AU1 Forte which was lowered 65mm (properly) and galaxy blue had that from 98 to 2004. 200 FWKW with a little work done to the I6 current car (garage queen) is a 8/98 AU XR6 VCT in galaxy with the bi plane spoiler, side and front bodykit plus 18 inch wheels (shadowchromes from italy) 99,000 km on it and sitting in the garage for the rest of the year at least. got no real interest in it atm. my interest in it comes and goes as I have so many hobbies and I like to keep the km's down as I'm keeping it for life. thats the plan anyway. I don't cruise with groups/clubs in SA anymore. however I would like to go to an AU falcon meet thats closer to SA if that ever happens. mildura or hamilton VIC maybe no true performance mods. brake upgrades like DBA 4000's slotteds is about it

Hi all!! My name's Rebecca (Bec),I live in Melbourne with my husband and two beautiful little boys, and according to some of the guys on here, my dirty thirty age must qualify me for a seniors discount pretty soon LOL!
I grabbed up my AU series 1 Fairmont Ghia, around Sept last year for an absolute steal, and have fallen more and more in love with it each day. My youngest son (3yr old) was diagnosed with a kidney disorder in March this year, and doing minor mods on my car has really helped take my mind off things. See, typical woman, I'm talking your ears off already!!! LOL :evil3:

Welcome to aufalcon.com, Matt and Bec.
I know what you mean about having many hobbies, Matt. I am in the same boat as you, not too crazy about cars but enjoy learning about it all, being able to give some advice and recommendations and meeting people from the club. Driving has become a a bit tiresome these days with the amount of confusing and unpredictable drivers on the road, so it's not as enjoyable to drive as before. Mildura sounds like a good idea. We already did a QLD / NSW / VIC meet up. Maybe we can do a VIC / SA / lower NT meetup or something. Bec, glad you like your Ghia. I'll be on the lookout for a Fairmont with altezzas and love heart tips. You might think about getting it lowered when you put the new wheels on? Low Fairmonts look great. Andrew.

Glad to know that Dauphin. Mildura is my favourite place of those that are within four hours drive. mildura being three and a half hours. the speedway there has a few epic shows on during the summer each year.
thats my summer hobby. following the super sedan class around the countryside

Hi. I just bought a 99 AU falcon station wagon in sparkling burgundy colour, on gas/ petrol, with 15inch csa rims and cat back sports exhaust. $3000.
Now, when i bought it the gas was running rough, well turns out the mixer was cracked, and the piping had been bypassed on it, and i guess it was just fiddled around for quick sale. so ive paid another $1350 to a mechanic and had the gas tank tested, new mixer installed and gas serviced (so basically a new system). I find this car much nicer to driver then my old ED. its done 350,000km, but the engine runs like its only done 100,000km. Gearbox is silky smooth, as is steeing. 3 problems i have found, the suspension is worse then when i test drove it, over irregular roads, it thumps a bit at the front. The aircon was working when i bought it, ableit not too cold, yet after a week, the fan switch stopped working, i cant turn the bloody fan on! 3rd problem, is the left hand passenger door doesnt lock! its annoying the car only has central locking, and the central locking only closes 3 doors! Otherwise im quite happy with the car, its so much smoother then my old ED, and even EFs/ELs i have driven, and the paint on mine is beautiful, car must have been garaged since new, and goes wonderful with the mags. |

Hi all. My name is Geoff from Brisbane ( sounds like an intro to alcoholics anonomous). I am brand new to this forum. Abit about me. Im 43, 5 kids, married 22 years ,worked in Qld Govt for past 25 years. Was having a mid life moment so saw a fantastic AU LTD 5.0 V8 with hardly any k's on it so splashed out and now have a fantastic ride. It sits in the garage and only comes out every second week end for a burble down to the shops. Had to put some pacemaker headers and twin 2 1/4 inch sports exhaust on it. You know. Just because the sound is awesome. Will look into cold air induction and have also added LPG. Sounds like over kill you maybe thinking for a weekend ride - but its all mine ( not for the kids) and its just nice. Anyway cheers to you all.

Hi kpcart. Sorry to hear about the gas piping issue. Those dealers can be sneaky. They promised me a full tank of fuel and fresh service if I bought my Fairlane and these things were not done when I picked it up. I whinged and they did the service for me, plus machined the discs. If your front suspension is thumping with 15" wheels then maybe it needs to be looked at.
Do you still have the compulsary 3-month dealer warranty (if you're in Vic)? Maybe look at getting those other issues fixed while it is. So tell us a bit more about yourself... ------------------------ Hi Will. Is your taxi yellow still? It must have seen a lot of action in its time. Does it have vinyl seats? Does it have cruise control (just my curiosity)? Does it attract any kind of different registration because of its ex-life? Hope we can be of assistance when the time comes. ------------------------ Hi Geoff, would love to see a photo of your LTD! I have a Fairlane myself. Hope you can keep your limo to yourself, don't let any of your 5 kids ruin it. Sounds like it'll be a nice car to drive. The longwheelbase V8s do sound good with a decent exhaust setup. ------------------------ All of you, don't forget to signup at www.aufalcon.com and create a profile about your AUs! There's only a handful of ex-taxis and LTDs on there at present.

No worries Dauphin. Just as soon as I work out how to put the pictures on the system they will be there. Of course it might need just one more wash before I take the photos. Like the red laser beams coming out of the eyes. Would be handy for reheating coffee.
