yeh my dash/centre console is done with the same black dye (VHT colour dye). it works really well on the vinyl where it can soak into it a bit, but on the hard plastic, ie. Ea-d door handles and window winders and centre console, it scratchs really easily.

i love what you've done to your interior. looks so good!

show us the pics when your carpet goes in! actually on that note wouldn't 2 layers of carpet be pretty heavy!! well i spose a ford engine could handle it eh!! haha!!

cheers

Yeah, thats the main reason i decided to trim everything rather then paint, i know the vinyl dye is good on stuff it can soak into, but other parts don't last too well.
i've avoided painting any hard plastics so far and the trimming seems to be working
yeah the carpet will just add to the weight, but my cars not exactly light as it is, most of the Ghia options, LPG extras, stereo, car computer the list goes on.
just means i need more power

i'll be putting more pics up as i do stuff.

looks nice. thats a simular idea that i had with the 2 tone dash colours.

did you get your carpet from tru fit carpet?

make sure you get a close up of the pile, it will be interesting to see what it is like against factory stuff.

Cheers

yeah i ended up going with Tru-Fit, Rmyers got carpet from them and was unimpressed, from talking to them this time i feel like they've improved but we'll see.
its also one of the cheapest options for doing it, i was going to consider an AU carpet but that was gunna cost $80 anyway plus any stuffing around i'd need to do to make it fit.

i've got for the normal plush carpet, not the super plush.
i currently have super plush (ghia) carpet in my car ontop of the plush (Gli) carpet, the difference between those is fairly noticable but i'm not overly concerned, it is ONLY carpet :P
the samples i seen looked alright anyway

Are they still using an EF bench seat floor pan to mould their carpet?? Unimpressed is an understatement...

Don't know, will find out in about 30 mins :P

i'd say noo, when i ordered they asked if it was auto/manual then asked if it was column or floor shift..
so i'd imagine they'd have different carpets for that.
but we'll see

Black carpet is in, not overly happy with it but thats what happens with aftermarket crap.
i reckon i coulda moulded a carpet better myself.

i'll do the kick panels over the next few days, and the inside part of the scuff plates will be black, will only paint the inside visible part otherwise it'll come off.

Not overly happy? It looks GREAT in that photo!

I'll have to check it out in person sometime. So what's not to like about it? Is the fit pretty average? Is the carpet material not quite what you thought it would be?

its the moulding, basically the same problem Rmyers had.
Front is ok, few bits where it bulges out a bit but its alright.
rear is stupid... i actually had to hack it to make it sit right over the driveshaft tunnel, so now i've got hacked up carpet visable in the middle in the back, but i'm going to get one of those long rear matts to cover it up.

I didnt have a whole lot of choice, carpet had to be done and now it is, and i'm happy with the Black
the carpet material itself is good.

9/10 for carpet
1/10 for moulding

did the grey rubber around the doors in a darker charcoal, deffinately blends in more.
Kick panels are now *closer* to black, flash makes them look lighter then they are.
scuff plates have had a strip of black put on them to blend them in on the inside.

Looks really good man, i'd be lying if i said i haven't thought about doing it to mine after i saw yours, but i have enough on my plate as it is. But yeah sorry to say when i saw the carpet in the flesh, the rear section was pretty bad. From what i remember (and this is going back a while), my rear section had minor issues with the centre section aswell, but only minor creases over the hump which was disguised by the floor mat.

True fit = They truely don't fit!!!
