LOL, at least the intelligent ones learn (and avoid a ticket)

As for the carpet, or lack of in the Fiesta. I just don't get why they did that ?

I think I'll probably line the back of the seats and the bit under the hatch lock with some felt but not much can be done about the carpet cut short in the footwell area.

Might be a small thing but such a simple thing detracts from this little pearler of a car.

I do like the hidden away twin exhaust tails on the Zetec though. Doesn't make it look try-hard

You guys are pathetic. Its funny how people get fixated on something, and i bet they are hipocrites and break other road rules, eg speed etc.

But driving lights, OMG its the end of the world because someone drives with them on. Geez man, who we gonna call? Ghost busters, or maybe the power rangers to rectify this blight on our society!!!! PATHETIC

Sheesh, we were just stating the obvious after 20 or 30 years of driving.

We should start another thread.... "Lets state the bleeding obvious to Ben85" perhaps?

Anyway back to this thread topic......

I believe we are in the 'What do you like/Dislike about your Fiesta' thread, not the 'Arguments against/for the use of fog lights'... : : :

C'mon guys, this is crap radding on other members. We should be happy, we have Fiestas after all???

They only shine about a metre infront of the car!!! So how is that "blinding the on coming traffic"??? I've had heaps of vehicles coming towards me with them on, with no problems wat so ever. If they were to point any higher they would be useless in the fog, because the light would be reflected back at you, thats why you dont use high beam in fog.

Wat bleeding obvious? My driving lights have the wattage of a low beam light, and only light up a metre or two infront of the car, if that blinds you, how do you go with regular headlights? Lets all drive around in the dark shall we, because oldsoftboss cant handle headlights coming towards him, because they point a whole lot higher than driving lights. Ur probably good on one way streets tho.

It has been mentioned elsewhere and it is in other cars but ...

The USB in the Zetec is awesome.

We now have multiple thumbdrives we just plug and play.

Wifey has her 8GB one. Top folder has her favourites. We don't use the Ipod connector anymore because the thumbdrives are so much easier to use and can be left in the car without worrying about them getting stolen/damaged/lost.

I have a few with various genres of music and I can just hotswap them as needed.

The scan function works really well too.

I'm in the same boat. The iPod cord is only used to charge my iPhone. It was cool to begin with, but the USB drive is just awesome. One step better though is the fact the iPhone has the built in iPod, and with the new OS 3.0, I use the Bluetooth to transfer/play music using the cars awesome Bluetooth set-up. Just use the functions on the iPhone. Very easy to use, and I have up to 32GB of storange, so music for all moods!

I like the fact that Ford gave us two free tickets to the final of Australia's Next Top Model at Luna park (Fiesta promotion for the event).

Not my thing so I'm sending wifey and daughter - they are wrapped :

I never got no free tickets? Come to think of it I never even got a letter saying thanks for spending $22000 on a Ford? And I thought we'd get that My Ford book? That's a bit slack not sending a letter, at very least...

My girlfriend and her bestie would kill for those free tickets!

We got the Ford book a while back. Followed by the phone interview and then the Ford card.

Ford sent a letter a few weeks back as a follow up on the vehicle.

I won't hold my breath, but yeah thanks at least I know something will come. Let's hope it has some tickets that'll actually be useful, like to Bathurst or something!

We never got any book or tickets or anything :0 slackers they are and my wife loves the show and luna park, however she dislikes Ford since they allways lie to everyone, so she wont talk to them on the phone, which maybe the problem here?

I'm sorry but I think this is a MAJOR issue. I'm hoping that mine will be sent shortly, and your's too greenfoam, even if it's just the Ford book and a letter of thanks, stuff like that goes a long way. A friend bought a Honda, and they got a Honda booklet, a $500 voucher for accessories, a really well written thank you letter. And this was all within two weeks of picking up the car. I tell you what, even though her Accord Euro kept playing up, they were wonderful to her and guess what she drives now...a new Honda Accord Euro. Ford would want to get their act togeter, because we don't just spend thousands on cars and don't expect some kind of communication?

Has anyone else had this phone call from Ford/a thank you letter/tickets/My Ford book???

You aren't missing much with the book guys.

No idea why we got given the tickets but it sure made wifeys week (and the daughter). Maybe because we were one of the first to order a Zetec ? Not sure.

I agree a letter at least should go out to new owners though. We have bought a few new cars over the past 10 years (incl Mazda, Subaru, VW) and have always at least had a letter from HO.

Subaru were probably the best (still getting stuff from them and I've sold the vehicle!)

It would be nice to receive some form of thanks for being a customer in the form of discount vouchers, complimentary vouchers and a letter of thanks etc. I've generally received letters of thanks or welcome from Honda and BMW but so far nothing from Ford as yet (maybe still early since I've only just taken delivery). With VW, I was told I would receive a 10% off customer loyalty card for accessories and parts and an entertainment discount card but never ended up getting the 10% customer loyalty card and instead received an email which stated "present email for discount off accessories" which I did and was never honored by the dealer. As for the entertainment card, I kept asking them for it and didn't get it until 6 months later with only 4 months left for use prior to expiry date. To make things worse, when I took my car to get its first service, they scratched the rims and the front bumper and tried to deny it until I threatened them. Hence I've never been back to the selling dealer for anything since. As for BMW, what can I say, no complaints there. I've been given either a nice free loan car or a complimentary lunch voucher for 2 at selected high end restaurants at Crown Casino while I wait for the car to be serviced (Offered with each service). The last I had the nice complimentary lunch, the bill worked out to be around $150 bucks. Wifey is very happy with the BMW experience so far and i'm still getting the BMW magazines even though I've sold the car 6 months ago. As for Honda, aside from a thank you letter, I never really got any vouchers or anything like that despite buying 3 Honda's in 3 years from the same dealer.

My nan is still getting stuff from Subaru too, even though her Liberty is like four years old now. But even a letter of thanks would be nice, just something as $22,000 is a friggin lot of money. Since taking over one department at my work that was one of the things I implimented first, thank you letters and questionaires. I have herd wonderful things about BMW like you say Zetec Dave, they know customer service, and really treat loyal customers well (as you found out!).

I bet you're spot on with the eary-bird Fiesta buying with the tickets too candyman.

Picked up the vehicle on 29th June. Received a letter from Pacific Ford (dated 1st July) not exactly thanking/congratulating me but giving me the name/contact number of the branch manager if I had any questions on the vehicles operation/service/warranty etc.
Also a statement that in a couple of weeks I "may hear directly from Ford Australia regarding your new vehicle" and completing a survey.

The letter finished off wishing me "enjoyable motoring". :>)

That's rather ironic. I bought my car from Pacific Ford (Maroochydore) and picked it up on the 20th June, and have had no such letter? I think they know I'm a bastard and have a list of every squeek/rattle/concern/issue that I have with the car, and giving me a list of numbers to contact would only encourage me further. Regardless...

Back in 2002, we bought a brand new Mazda Tribute.
We had no issues with the car, but the pre-delivery and customer service by most at the dealership was woeful.

Included with the delivery paperwork was a questionaire that we mailed directly back to Mazda Australia - praising the car, but damning their dealer. A few weeks later we received a phone call from Mazda Australia, which I initially thought was a follow up to the questionaire. However the woman had no idea about this earlier feedback, and proceeded to ask the same questions all over again. Always wondered why did they even bother with the written survey if it just gets ignored.

Received a thank you letter from the dealer principle + $70 beauty voucher for the wifey . Your experience when buying a Ford really depends on the dealer you use (select them carefully). The one I use, the salesman gives me his car every time I get warranty work or servicing done. It's all in the relationship.:

Where are your rattles? we had a MAJOR rattle from inside the drivers side front pillar cover on certain roads there a while back but as in a really loud and distracting one you wouldn't expect on a 40 year old car:p it only lasted maybe a 1000 ks then stoped again (weird). I guess it will come back at some stage. At the moment it's on 17 or 18thousand ks and rattle free. Ford still don't love us however (6 months into owning it). With the amount of Fiesta's we have sold on Fords behalf to random people in the street that stop us and say GEEE that's a nice car! what is it? (no ones got a clue since they are so rare) I think I want my free stuff :p

SPOT ON! Yep that's the most annoying one. It happens on this one road to work, the roads not the best, but it's really bad sometimes and sometimes not too bad. Did it on my Sunday drive too. GRRRRR. There is a rattle in the back speaker or something, one in the passenger side dash (near the aircon vent) and it appears to be coming through the drivers side now too. Also the air con vents seem to make this annoying blowing noise when it's windy, even when the vents are to my feet? I dunno, maybe I'm listeing too hard. Then again, that whining from the clutch is annoying too.

If I don't get a letter from Ford by the end of this month, they will hear from me. Call me a winger, but NO ONE gets my money without working their guts out for it (apart from the Ford Dealer and the Apple Store, because I can't control myself at either place). I bust my gut at work to deliver superior customer service, understanding, quality products and have a good chat, so dam well they want $22,000 of my money they WILL send me a freakin book and a letter. That's customer service. I don't understand how you guys aren't concearned about this? I think it's shocking...

I think Kath from Kath & Kim put's it best. "Yes I am high maintance, but I think you gotta be!"

Not sure why you getting so wound up mate ?

It is only a letter that is mass mailed (when they get around to it)

Was nothing personalised in ours apart from the usual mailmerge stuff.

We got flowers for the wife and a bottle of champers and fruit basket from the VW dealer when we bought the GTI but it was twice the price of the Fiesta.

It was a nice gesture but didn't worry me if we hadn't got anything. We got the car.

The three local Ford dealers we shopped at were all about the same really in terms of service or lack of.

Subaru have been the best to deal with in my experience.

Yep It sounds like there's something under there like a cable of something that's vibrating against the plastic or such. It was really upseting my wife (enough to punch the pillar at one stage):p and she normally doesn't care about rattles. It was only on certain roads that develop a certain just wrong frequency in the car that made it happen so it would be very hard to show to a dealer. I think one day I'll attempt to fix it myself (once you can easily get the plastic if I bust it) and secure whatever is hanging loose inside there

Same noise - comes and goes. Worse on the passenger side above 80 kph but still only a very slight noise.

Might remove the trim and pack it with foam.

As for the show, wifey just sent me an sms. They have damn good seats - Row B !

They supplied a good meal and champers (wifey driving so daughter had a few)

Will see if I can see them in the audience on Foxtel.

Kinda wish I had gone now.

I bet you're spot on with the eary-bird Fiesta buying with the tickets too candyman.
Yep BMW sures does know how to do things right that why they deserve to be Australia's no:1 for customer service rating. Not even Mercedes Benz's customer service is any where near as that of BMW. Not only that, but their cars are pretty much the best to drive dynamically not to mention the badge.Hence I'll be getting another one in the near future.

Anyway, I'll be sitting back and waiting to see of I recieve anything from Ford. I'll keep you guys updated and see if I do or do not end up getting anything.

Just thought of another thing I like about the Fiesta - it isn't a BMW.

ie value for money, unpretentious, not badge whoring, unique (for now).

A BMW entry level doesn't even come close to the Fiesta - had my time in an entry level Beemer and the crappola support a certain BMW provided on the Northern Beaches!.

Mind you, they were looking down their noses the moment they sold it.

To get anything worth driving in the BMW line means 3 times the money of the Fiesta, at least.

Yeah hence we got the Fiesta for the time being. But will be getting a decent beamer when we can afford it again. Definately won't be going for any base model specs cause they're crap. I must say though, the Fiesta is setting the standard for value for money. Hope the japs will learn from it cause the Fiesta make the jap competitors seem more expensive with less kit.
