Check it out tomorrow at the mini ill be there with it in the AU ive got the positive stops fitted now too there is a bit of difference with them on.. Yeah been saying he needed to get one Shauns prob waiting for one to show up at jollys tho :P

Glad you're enjoying it Shaun. You'll probably find you may have to adjust the clutch cable a number of times. I've had to do it to mine a lot, but a lot of that can be contributed to my crappy clutch pin

Yeah, if I get 4 days of work this week, I will do it. If I get 3 or less, I'll have to put it off a little longer. It all depends on how much money I get

are all t5's the same ? or do they change in each different model they came out in ?

EA and EB1 T5s had a shorter 1st gear, plus lacked a reverse synchro. They were the only real changes between the later EBII - EL T5s

EA boxes have a bad name they are supposably weak. However EB-ED boxes have a fairly good name and are supposbly stronger.
My box is EBII.

I've noticed that the shifter on a lot of T5s is attached with a piece of rubber. Mine's just bolted on metal-to-metal, and it does feel really tight and precise

I don't like the chances of your synchro's being ok when you change fast and hard with a solid mount (i.e: no rubber between the shifter and base). The rubber is there to give the gearstick a smoother feel, and save the box to some extent.

Certainly it's a nicer shift, but may not be that good for the box.

Interesting. Ah well, that's how I got it. I usually just cruise anyway. I never thrash the gearchanges. I can shift gears much faster than what I do, and I always make sure it's definately in before I take the clutch out, so that shouldn't do too much damage

It's not so much that..

The reason it feels so good, is because it's a mroe direct connection between your hand and the gearbox. There is no padding between the stick and box to prevent unecessary wear on the synchros and gears when changing hard.

I don't see it doing alot of harm, but i mean, it is there for a reason.. To make the gear changing experience smoother and coushier..

Fair enough. I guess the amount of damage that occurs is based on whether or not you force it into gears.

Positive stopes like on my shifter or the adjustment on steeda shifter and the like stop you from damaging the syncro, The thing that causes the most harm is when you push the shifter past the point of being "in gear" and then you put pressure on the syncro its self at that point which causes the damage.

I have the same set up as Dezza as the rubber made mine sloppy so I removed it. It vibrates a little at higher revs and is very presice. I have been to ford and enquired about the rubber but I nearly dropped to the floor when they told me the price. They want $100 for the rubber and the 2 brackets and bolts that surround the rubber. Bugger that

yeah i have the same setup, if u want to get rid of those vibrations a thin piece of rubber in between the shifter stick and the box will stop them

Your left leg is going to be the same size as the hulks soon with that damn clutch. I dont think that clutch is brass button its just a normal clutch as it has some slip in it but the clamp load must be dam high. Goes a lot better than the auto. What did ya think about the AU when ya took her for a spin???
