They tested the durability of a subwoofer with funny results. I think it was run over and put under water. They probably did other stuff to it as well. I can't remember that well, it was years ago.

We did various tests on a sub to determine how good it was, you know, the usual, running it over with my EA, lighting it on fire etc....

For those of you who weren't around in those days :

Alex and Steven's Legendary Subwoofer Durability Test
The standards against which all subwoofers and audio equipment is judged.

The various tests were:

1. Fashionability - We used it is a head garment to test how fashionable the sub was. It failed.

2. Kick test - We kicked the subwoofer around to see how well it bounced. It failed.

3. Strength test - We ran over it with the EA to test its structural strength. It failed.

4. Resistance to sharp objects test - We cut the cone apart with a stanley knife. It failed.

5. Flamability - We wanted to see how well it resisted fire. We doused it with kero and lit it. It failed.

6. Moisture test - We wanted to see how well it held up after being doused with water. Naturally this was right after the flamability test. It failed.

7. Resistance to heavy falling objects - We threw bricks at it, it failed.

After much close inspection of what was left of the subwoofer, we deemed it a definite fail and threw it in the bin. This test proves the poor quality of Jaycar's Response range of subwoofers.

Alex

This thread just keeps getting better. Loving the subwoofer test. That was obviously a fair few years ago, as Steve's car looked like a standard EA with rims, and Steve looks a bit younger!
