I bet they still have a workshop attached as well. Underbonnet checks and workshops used to go hand in hand

Service is pathetic today - software systems run everything and most of the humans we need to deal with are like robots - computer says no. Hopeless.

I miss the Trading Post (and the prices within)
I miss when you didn't need an account, a password, a phone, a link or an app to do things. |

Thats funny. True but funny. I had to laugh when i was at the shop with my brother, the bloke at the till informed the pay pass wasnt working. So my brother scratched his head for a second because he hasnt used a pin code in a while. The bloke behind the till remarked 'this is the dementia test'.

The KISS principle gone out with the tech age, once ID was simply your license. Funnily its in your ServiceNSW app (and whatever each State its called ) yet we need usernames and copious amounts of b loody passwords..... I don't mind I have everything logged in but its a PIA just the same.

The days when we had a 'weather event' and the electricity supply failed, we still had the the land line phone and the transistor radio to find out what was happening.
Now, no electricity and it is back to 1922. Stuck in the dark ages. Mobile phone is no use because you can't charge it, the tower batteries have run down, and the solar panels don't work because it is raining. Your car gets wet, no need to open the doors and let it dry, it is a write-off. The weather didn't affect us this time, but 7 years ago, that is how it was for a week. |

The days of customer service are long dead, its not overly valued by business, reason being is humans are expensive and its costly to have them doing menial crap like processing basic transactions. Mind you at the shops I refuse to use self serve checkouts, even if I've just got a bottle of water I'll jump in line. Was something I was going to implement at work, you refuse to use email or online, if you want to talk to me on the phone or in person, than you paid +20%, that's the way its going to move, but you need to have everything else in place and sorted first, you need to make it easy for people to figure out what they want without needing to contact you in non efficient manner like in person or over the phone. Its not good value from a business perspective to be sinking $50K + super + entitlements on someone to answer the phone and process basic transactions, I'd rather have that $50,000 + in extra stock of stuff that people want to buy. Or that person doing 'value added' work in investigating new product markets/opportunities. There's also an 'opportunity cost' to a business, a lot of times its just better off to say no. To be honest, myself as a consumer, I'd rather not have to deal with other people and just have **** turn up at my door, but I want it delivered either same day or next business day at the latest. The real MVP in a customer service role is a good driver - worth their weight in gold. Still have the humans, just utilise them where you can capitalise on their initiative and decision making capabilities, having humans where they're in positions where they can't use their initiative and decision making capabilities such as doing menial crap like processing transactions is a waste of resources. Something that ****s me is why don't fuel pumps have EFTPOS terminals? Why do I need to go inside to pay for fuel? Why can't I buy a car and it just turns up in my driveway? (You can and I did this when I bought the Thailux) Last edited by Franco Cozzo; 04-03-2022 at 11:46 PM. |

I miss that Aussie toughness when people did not turn themselves into Karens and victims
anytime someone asked them to do something. The recent floods show us people at their best, something that’s been missing in our country for the past two years. That Aussie spirit of getting in and helping others and being less selfish. |

Aussies looking out for the battler! Instead of being like the American look out for self. People treating others like they want to be treated.
