Yep... still sitting there, 90% finished. Can't live in it, can't rent it out, can't finish it (yet) and can't re-finance it.

But paying all the bills on my own for the whole year.

That's ok, the wheels are in motion.... I'm just wanting it to be over and to move on with my life.

There is probably a lot of truth in what you say and it is common across the western world....

My parents and aunties and uncles were 10 pound Poms from Scotland in the 60's, my uncle fiercely defended Australia as his new home against anyone that had a go.

He always said that the best thing about Australia was that a plane leaves everyday for somewhere else if you don't like it.

There's a lot wrong and especially the last few years it seems that rather than do what is needed to be done politicians act like kids and make a political football of everything.

More concerned about staying in office than actually making a difference and selling out themselves.

What I'm thinking despite being relatively young is there are far too many softcocks these days too.

But there is still a lot of good things here too and we should never forget that.

Firebugs! Last night on the news they caught some 16 YO kid who burned up 300 hectares and 7 houses and a bunch of farm animals. Notwithstanding the property damage it beats me as to why someone would think burning up a bunch of animals is entertainment. I think govt should, after a period of education/public notification, start charging firebugs with hundreds of charges of animal cruelty if they get caught lighting a bushfire. Maybe even give them a day or two of non-negotiable gaol for every animal they burn. At least might make them think a little more about the consequences of their actions....

Not condoning his actions, but I think you may reading a bit too much into it. I doubt that he thought his actions through and deliberately set out to burn animals etc. If however he's a repeat offender - then he should have the book thrown at him.
