That brisbane store has been in trouble a few times I think. I remember a few years ago someone got stabbed in the face by someone else there?

I think it may have been the eye...dont remember too well,,

Did I hear right on Sunrise this morning when they said they're closing all salad bars across the country?

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of being Sizzlers?

Why else would you go?

I think the real reason was because the people of Victoria showed a bit of class and stopped frequenting the "restaurants".

Queenslanders will always love Sizzler - any restaurant you can pitch up to in your shorts and thongs is a winner up here!

Any "restaurant" that has a buffet should be outlawed as far as I am concerned... So unhygienic.

People touch and spit on the food as they are selecting their plate fulls - and kids pick their own meals - YUCK have you seen how kids actually put their heads under the glass and touch everything... I think I am going to be sick just thinking about it. Buffets are just not for me.

They are talking about the possibilities of still having the salad bars but changing the way things are done...
Some of the ideas I have heard so far are that they will have a staff member serving the salad bar...... less chance of someone doing this again I guess.
Or they said something along the lines of people ordering and staff bring it from the kitchen....(dont know if that will work)
Mind you, they will have to work out the extra costs so it may not happen..

Yeah, pizza hut stopped doing eat-in pizzas in QLD too. By last count, there was one in south brisbane - don't know if its still here.

There was one in Strathpine that closed down a few years ago.

well whilst on the topic of food, i was wondering where there are still sizzler restraunts open as victoria doesn't have them anymore i miss them, and am planning a 2 week holiday in march and am definately going to sizler whilst i'm there.
I'd heard the Sizzler restaurants near us closed down due to failing some health inspection checks. I don't believe it was due to rat poison.

Not sure how much truth is in that, may just be lies by media....

I actually think I am cured of wanting to go to Sizzler's again... dont care how many cameras they have lol

A woman has been charged today in Queensland with putting rat poison in the salads at two Sizzlers restaurants there. At least they won't have a rat problem.

I stay away from those franchise chains, the food is plastic and sus - better to get an old-fashioned pizza etc from your local owner-run restaurant.

Don't want to put you off supermarkets too but I once saw an elderly migrant lady open an ice cream tub in the freezer at Coles, dig her finger deep into it, take a taste and then close the lid again and walk off. Stomach turning stuff!

man, you lot must lead boring social lives, never going out anywhere because the food is "suss". Wonder how often you eat fast food like KFC, macca's or even subway, there are many horror stories that come out of them.

We have a lonestar here and it was great last time we went, if you go on your birthday they give you this massive desert thing, its like a combination of chocolate brownies, fudge, icecream and whipped cream. They also gather round your table and sing happy birthday e Their ribs are pretty good too and the jacket potato with sour cream and stuff is delicious.

edited to protect the innocent (and no, that isnt me).

Hogs breath is good too, i love their double burgers (2 patties), that and the fries. Both are the sort of place you can just meet people of a weekend, grab something half decent to eat, then head off for a cruise.

Sorry for bumping a very old thread, but I was directed here by a friend who told me there was a sizzler thread on a Ford forum- combining two of my absolute favourite things. I was completely gutted when Sizzler shut down in Melbourne, everyone in the family went there for their birthdays or other special occasions and always had a great time. The Fisherman's Platter Supreme never let me down, and my kids just loved making their own desserts. Miles ahead of Lone Star or any other restaurants, if you ask me.

I can't believe that it's almost been five years since I lost my Sizzler. I spent a while looking for a job transfer for QLD for the sun and Sizzler, but that didn't come through. Guess I'll just have to save it for a vacation!! The whole family still speaks about how great the food was.

By the way, thanks for this idea mate-

wow sizzler. Used to go pretty much every birthday. Everytime I go to Perth I tell the mrs we will go (she has never been) but I never seem to get there. Cheese Bread and Potato Skins were the best. Especially the latter with cheese and sour cream.

I get a parmesan bread from woolies fridge section that you grill. Brand is Lafamiglia.

The only Pizza Hut I know of still operating an "Eat In" system is the one at Marion.

As for Charlies, they didn't fill any void. They have no potato skins, the chips and potato products they do have are all frozen stuff just deep fried, and most of the food is just questionable quality. I've had better quality Black & Gold chicken nuggets than what they have on their buffet there!

And also for teh lulz,

The gold coast sizziler always has a line out the door at dinner time. Probably why I've never eaten dinner there, that and the fact that hooters is two doors down.
It's great for lunch however, never once had to wait to be seated
