Carsguide awarded the G6ET car of the year in 2008 if I'm not mistaken.

Not every single Ford that comes off the line is going to be perfect and I think the review acknowledges this, it also hints what with a better feature set to put it on par with the top Jap and Euro offerings, it would be a world beater.

very good review. honest and informative.
It really showed where Ford lacks, especially in the standard features area. I mean the G6ET is the top of the range Ford product but misses out on a lot of goodies that rivals have had for years.

It is called writing for an intended audience. If he was writing it for a specialist car mag it would be very different. This is for a mainstream read by every kind of moron on the planet newspaper thus written for the broadest possible general interest to very limited space. it probably started out as 700 words, a late advert came in, they cut a paragraph out of it willy nilly to fit the late advert in without telling him, or showing him, and first he would know is when he read the paper. This is how motoring journalism happens in the real world when writing for major newspapers.

I have a manual 2009 FG XR 6 and drive an 2010 Aurion everyday as a company car and they are light years apart . If you like a car whose steering feels like a stick of licquorice stuck in a bowl of rice pudding , whos brakes are so woefully over assisted that it totally eliminates any feedback through the pedal , whos suspension is so ponderous it feels like driving a galleon and these three traits alone subsequently makes you feel so totally and comprehnsively disconnected from the road but do like gimmicks and boubles and beads then buy the Aurion . If however you enjoy driving it is a NO BRAINER .

P.S. Don't drive the Aurion with the window down without elbow pads or you'll get gravel rash on your elbows . And don't accelerate too hard in the wet as you will be treated to a tour de force of lock to lock tyrying to tame the torque steer . These are woefully pathetic cars of the first order .

Simply put I think Neil Dowling has G6E-T envy.
It's not uncommon. It's infected me twice. Then my father got it, and took away "my precious".

Now I have a serious question for every one;
I can have either velvet and a black interior, or Ego with cashmere interior. Thoughts?

Ego looks a bit less old man car in my opinion plus the darker leather will be so much easier to keep looking good.

They looked on their computer and in NSW at least there's no velvet with cashmere interior in stock. I could order one but I'd have to pay full price and not the discounted price.

Can they bring it in from another state?

I had the choice of Velvet with black (new) or Velvet with cashmere (demo). The cashmere looked very 2nd hand after only 800kms, especially the carpet. Maybe, they just didn't take too much care of the demo.

With two young rugrats though, very glad I chose the black. Either way, you'll love it. They both look classy, and I've never heard any comments that the black looks terrible b4.

They won't bring it from interstate, they are offering me over 10K off that price on stock that they have. With the 50th anniversary being $54950 drive away, they are doing them for just under 50K plus a 22K trade in on a BF Fairlane.
I've even offered to bring some tools and swap; they won't. I'm leaning Ego and Cashmere as I'm rather fastidious and would keep it clean, I've had the shadow interior before on my earlier G6E-T. Whilst it was easy to keep clean, I think the cashmere does look a lot more elegant.
BTW, Ego and Velvet are very soon to be obselete colours.

Egos gone already...

Only way you will get Ego now is by getting something thats dealer stock.

I wouldnt buy the cashmere interior but then again we have been over this a millon times. Some say it doesnt wear, others say it does. In my personal experience with demo / ex ford cashmere cars they all look like trash after 10,000 kms!

If your going to get cashmere atleast get the black floor mats, it looks better and they dont show any marks!

Good luck.

I was only thinking this yesterday while vac'ing my G6ET and before I had read this. The centre tunnel is huge, quite tall and square in particular (and no I don't know how it compares with earlier Falcon's) compared to our VR Calais which is low and rounded. I don't really care as I sit in the front, but an adult in the centre rear wouldn't be comfy if they had legs.

With IRS, it should be easier to make the tunnel smaller as you don't have to allow for the rear suspension travel as the diff is fixed.

Not having a go at you pursuit, but I'm tired of hearing this. I've done 58,000k's in mine and it still looks new. I'm probably a bit like ltd in that I like to keep it clean. Both carpets and seats are unmarked.
Go the cashmere ltd, it's a very classy look.

I really don't know how they could say this. Toyota bland with some baubles and trinkets. I drove one about four weeks back and two words sprung to mind.
The first one was siht and the second one was box.

the old soarer is a pretty good car , a much higher price bracket in its day i think, i`m a bit surprised you think its so much better, i drive a pristine 97 soarer fairly frequently , and no doubt its well put together has lots of gadgets , has the best seats of any car i have ever driven, but it steers like a battle ship, has zero feedback, for driving though i would`nt trade my s2 au for it in a million years.

+1 for mine having nearly 20,000k's and still looks good

I always thought that the reason for matts was to protect the carpet, they can also be replaced so why bother having ugly black matts in a Cashmere interior car

32000 ks in mine and not a mark either, every person that has been in it has commented on how classy the interior is and that it really brightens up the cabin. I don't think I would ever go back to black leather, its so plain.

I also have the black car mats which break the interior up a bit.
