mum always said
if you cant say something nice about some one wait till their out of the room Move one, eith use it to your advantage or go elseware the warrnty argment doesnt cut it, lets face it you never have to go there again, its a nation wide warrnty, and even if you did do you think the service departments and sales departments have nothing better to do than check to see if a car has come in for service so they can stick it to you there I dont think so as I said before, move on and use it as a dinner conversation starter its over

Some interesting opinions ITT that's for sure.
Personally that dealership would never have my business again if I was in the OP's position, no matter how sweet they got with me. But that's just me. |

Poor customer service and a crappy attitude towards customers is inexcusable, under any circumstances, in my opinion. IF this dealership were serious about its customer service, those comments would never have been made in the first place. Training this guy on how to use the phone correctly is not the answer either, you'd simply be keeping the issue covered up.
Going after a better deal from the same dealership is tantamount to blackmail and really puts you at a similar level, in terms of your conduct. The answer is to walk away from the dealership. Find a car somewhere else and then write a calmly worded letter to the dealer principal advising of your actions. That way, you end the discussion in a professional manner (unlike the guy you overheard), the dealer knows he has lost a sale and can take whatever steps he needs to to prevent a reoccurance, and you can enjoy your new car, safe in the knowledge that for once "the good guys win". Cheers |

.......... and (not saying it is the case) but who is "The good guys"? The customer is always the good guys and the bad guy is always the sales person??? People should be more honest in retail .... yes I agree .... "Hey, sales lady ...... does my **** look fat in this?" "Yes it does .... it looks bloody huge!"

I felt like slapping the bloke that tried to sell me the fg ute, treated me like dirt so i walked off when the papers were just about to be signed... |

I would simply use it against the dealership, ask for free stuff / matts/service options etc. Make them beg for your money, if not just go to other dealership simple.

My Mrs copped a 'grumpy' salesman after a series of blunders by said salesman and others at the (Ford) dealership. While I resisted the temptation to give him a spray, we made sure the DP and FoMoCo knew all about it. Quote:

If his comments offend you so much (which in a sense i can't blame you)
I think it is important you front up and advise them of who you are and how you were referred to. We are not talking about a $300 dvd or similar, we are talking about the common second most expensive purchase most will make. I know i made comments like that before, but usually discreetly It is not right that you had to hear it, But agreed, it may be a good conversation starter when you are standing back with a beer with a mate looking at your new purchase you bought elsewhere. I also feel the salesman requires education on hanging up the phone correctly

I chat with Panel Beaters all day taking their orders and sometimes their ****, I usually just thank them for their order, tell them to have a nice day and do the order and forget them.
Some people out there should do the same. Vote for a dealer with your wallet. |

When I bought my last car, AU Fairmont Ghia.
We sign the papers and then the salesman takes me into the finance guy, he asks me how are we going to do this, and starts talking about finance. I look puzzled as I've never bought a car through a finance company in my life. I've always arranged things through the bank. When informed they will get a cheque for the car he got really upset. Apparently he gets a commission from the finance companies they use and was upset at missing out from the sale. I then got upset saying I wasn't going to get the car from them because of what was said. My voice is loud and when raised can be heard from a reasonable distance, anyway the manager appears and apologised to me, took me away from the finance guy and calmed me down. I still purchased the car but I never saw that finance guy there again. Last edited by billy302; 16-03-2011 at 07:01 PM. Reason: grammer |

It's an Australian story...poor service. It wouldn't happen in the States where they would get the sack on the spot.
Isn't anyone else sick of getting treated like ****? Wrong spare parts and getting ignored in shops? Out them on here and everywhere else, tell the manager what happened, if he gets sacked **** happens - send a message. Don't buy this car from them, give them a go next time. |

I dont know why some of you think that the DP would be outraged to find out his salesmans behaviour...i have worked under a DP that has openly abused cutomers to thier faces!! And before you think it was some poor reputation dealership , it actually won a national dealer of the year award twice under this cretins reign.
I think some of you guys would be amazed at what goes on in a dealership. |

You can get problems from any dealer. But Ford's are notorious. Someone needs to address these dealers.

WOW i don't believe some of the responses i've read on here.... :/ I'm with you all the way munners. Sounds like utter crap and i'd go to a different dealer.
All he has done is 'review' his brothers experience at the dealer. How is that any different than a movie critic bagging a movie??? I'm fairly certain some of you against this wouldn't feel the same if you were in his brothers position... Build a bridge people and get over his REVIEW!!!..........

Haha, its kinda funny, the salesman probably wouldnt know your brother from a bar of soap, he started bitching to his colleagues probably to be funny. I wouldnt take it personally, if your brother doesnt want to deal with them go to another dealer. Ive sometimes bad-mouthed call centre staff to my wife to have a laugh, I would of been mortified to know that they heard - as I genuinely wouldnt want to offend them.

Guess you still won out in the end with a much better deal than you originally had. Just to rub it in call XXXXX and tell him what his actions has cost him.

I dont know if this is a bad customer services story - afterall the dealer was apologetic. Rather its a story about a human being stuffing up.

Getting abused happens every now and then customers always wanting something for nothing and when they dont get it we are the worst people in the world. We have to work to earn a living aswell it would seem, so if i ever go anywhere and have to wait a bit for some service or something like that im happy to wait as i know what its like.

If you ordered a burger and the guy making it dropped the patty on the ground, then used it in the burger anyway thinking you hadnt seen it, would you just accept it as a human making a mistake? If the sales guy has such a low opinion of his customers, he should find another job. |

I don't consider that to be something to get fed up about, and it certainly doesn't warrant abusing customers willing to make what is quite probably the second most important purchase in their lifetime. |
