Congratulations Craig, on an awesome car, the bolt-on enhancements and tuning being the critical key to your success
It is of no surprise to me that our first effort at the manual record ended with us taking the "w". Having been a keen Boss enthusiast from day one, I have lobbied hard for the cars being run with the correct Bolt-ons, and yesterday we proved you dont need aftermarket camshafts at a large cost to maintain RELIABILITY as well as grunt to burn. Craig needs his car everyday, intact, so this is why we went down this path (also saving our clients a bunch of $$$) And burn down the strip it did, blistering 114mph in heat of day, this car will run 116 @ calder no probs. Driving these manual cars is a real buzz, I look forward to my second ride. I would like to further put down a few key points to answer any questions. Difilippo 1 7/8 headers Bluepower airbox stock cams, gears, valvesprings - only internal mod being pump gears stock rear suspension, 90/10's up front pass seat removed, drivers seat original slicks and front runners 98 octane ulp with NO additive Craig knows the weight - 1625 plus 87kg driver Drivers 1st time out on slicks with manual 4.10 diff (now with one axle less) 80mm TB We only decided to race this car recently, as it was a record we had not had a shot at yet, and was probably the only vehicle in our inventory we hadn't had a serious go at racing. Craig showed in sydney that it was a contender, so i thought it might be nice to pinch this one, and being a manual made for a fun day. Well done Craig, brilliant result from a brilliant workshop, thanks also for your guidance on the startline, gave me a bunch of confidence. BOSS MOTORS ROCK!

Running slicks/frontrunners has two advantages there about 50kg which means lighter less rotating mass (worth about .15 tenths) and you can launch harder so better 60ft obviously better ET. |

Also the smaller brakes you need to fit to run a 15" rim would be lighter aswell I suppose.. Less resistance from the skinny front runners too.. Damn, If I could be bothered going to all that hassle, i'd drop .5 of a second?? |

I have been the test guinea pig for Textralia (The industry leader in tough clutches) now for almost 12 months. We have been developing a clutch program for these BOSS motors using all different sorts of combinations. The clutch that is in the ute has copped some punishment like you would'nt believe over the last month with close to 50 1/4 mile runs a melbourne to sydney and back trip and some serious canning on the street. I have to say that i reckon we have got it right with this current combination as our timeslips seem to back it up and a few of my customers who have driven my ute over the last month will probably agree, Wade liked it, i get the feeling Chris liked it. Rip Shift......what can i say, what an amazing shifter, these are without a doubt the best manual shifters going around today all of the quickest and fastest Fords and Holdens run these. To Peter at Textralia and Phonsy at Rip Shift congratulations on producing 1st class products. :eclipsee_ :eclipsee_ :eclipsee_ :eclipsee_ Cheers Craig |

I seen 1st hand how much sh#t that clutch took, defiantly a clutch that stood up to some serious racing.

I’m pleased to see you are now using the clutch correctly by riding it out of the hole at high RPM and not just dumping it. As you know, Textralia actually condones this as not only is it the best thing for your drive train whilst delivering the power gently, but it also helps with the co efficiency of the frictional material against the chosen materials in the pressure plate and flywheel, therefore giving decent drivability on the street between track meets. Realistically a 1.66 to the sixty foot mark is where it should be given your power, smallish and well worn tyre size as with the weight of the car and overall basic set-up. From experience, you’re driving the car very well. Awesome stuff for a basic package and again, well done. Craig, we can’t thank you enough for all of your help in the development of a decent clutch system for the Ford gang. It’s been a long road as you know and we really appreciate it. Cheers Pete. |
