totally agree about ch10 though. i do shift work and this week i'm on early's so i find it very frustrating when the f1 is pushed back 1/2 an hour.

they probably think rove had high ratings at the end of his show but in reality it was all the f1 fans checking in only to find rove still on.

big brother is even worse for delaying the following programs.

the f1 is obviously pre recorded as well, otherwise surely g.rust and mr personality could just bypass or speed up the intro bit. by the time they get to the start of lap 1 its gone 11:30.

So here are 3 suggestions that are clean enough to post:

1. Buy a very BIG clock for each of the production studios.

2. Save us all a lot of grief and just roll all the bloody useless reality shows into one. It's simple - just place a large group of overweight would be singers and dancers into a house with a few celebrities thrown in for good measure (actually get Rove McMoron to host it), put the house in a bad neighbourhood so you can get some reality police action out the front and perhaps invite the garden gang in for a weekly remodelling as well. Put it on between 0200 and 0900 each day and then no one will have to worry about it.

3. If any of the above shows run overtime just kill them at the scheduled finish. No one is going to miss the extra 10 minutes of umitigated crap anyway and if they do you can webcast it instead.

Regards
Russ

Your a smart man russ, this is a great idea, should put this faward to channel 10

Rather poke my eyes out with a sharp pen then watch Big Brother. Probably be less painful too.

Channel 10 need to get their act together or they will lose all the sporting fans altogether!

10 are a bunch of d^$# heads to be honest, you know the only problem is, that 90% of Aussies are d^$# heads too..so they love this sort of crap therefore the rating shoot up and the show stays, meanwhile us normal humans have to suffer, Foxtel should do us a deal..

People often complain about pay television picking up various sports and those sports becoming inaccessible to the rest of the population (A League soccer, superbikes, certain cricket games etc). Well channel 10 has shown why pay tv is able to pick these sports up.

Ten gets the rights to the GP and then provides ZERO commitment to the sport and its followers. The big-brain boffins at Ten the scratch their hairy bits wonderng why nobody is watching the delayed telecast at some unGodly hour and doesnt bother bidding again for the rights to air it. Fox jumps at the opportunity and then braodcasts the races live. If the free-to-air stations cant do a decent job of broadcasting the F1 (or any other sport they decide to ignore) then at least let Fox give us the choice. We may have to pay for it, but would you rather paid for F1 or free big brother?

There are plenty of posts in this thread regarding the quality of free television, especially Channel 10's. Unfortunately, a few p1ssed off F1 fans dont count when compared with the sheer numbers of viewers for the 'reality' shows. Sorry, but as usual, motorsport fans get shafted. Nothing new there...

I stopped watching that sad excuse of a channel when it got full of reality TV.
Not to mention all the crap romantic comedy genre movies.

I've lost count of the amount of times they've played happy Gilmore.

If its any help, we are one of the 650 people in Sydney that are linked to their rating machine - the Nielsen people meter.

When there is some show worth watching on Channel 10, we turn the meter off to show that there is no one watching. Hopefully my 0.15 portion of the rating points will sway advertisers.

When Speedweek on SBS is on, we turn all TV's on. Thats 0.30 of the ratings.

This may be right, but then the Pay stations go and put it on a channel which is not included in the standard package.
If I want just sport, then I should be able to package up some deal with just sports channels. Less Football and Cricket. Hell give me handball from Italy. At least the sport moves.
I don't want Rugrats at 4 in the morning or Oprah at 6pm at night.
Just give me something I want.
I put up with a pixelated version of the F1 coverage that was complete before Rove left our screens.

If they are not going to keep it on time then p*** it off to another station who is going to run "ON TIME" I dont understand how people can crap on for so long and STILL run over time. A "live" race might be nice once in a while and have to wait around for idoits on TV to finish. And now BB has started 1st thing i said to my sister "well not going to see a race on time now" fat chance they will finish on time EVA!!!!!
: : : : :
COME ON 10... Get ya act together...

And they are cutting off the driver interviews at the end, cause they run over time WTF!!!!! Cause other W****s cant stick to a time.

True. However, it is the free-to-air stations that put us in this kind of position. However, 10 decided that showing teh Malaysian grand prix live was too hard. They are on the same timezone as us yet ten couldnt be @rsed putting the race on before about 10.30 / 11pm. Simply, if the free to air channels cant deliver (and they have shown over and over that they cannot / will not) then competition will step in and take the viewers.

I agree with you on the packages with Foxtel. They arent very flexible. You ought to be able to buy individual channels. As it stands, I dont watch, or want to watch, NITV, ACC, E!, Shopping, Expo etc. (FTV is sometimes okay...lingerie mmmmmm). However, this thread is all about Ten's couldnt-care-less attitude to motorsport fans. If ten wont do it, then give it to someone who will. At least the viewers get a choice then.

Why isn't Anna Coren picking this story up? With the power and integrity of Today Tonight behind it, things are sure to change!

Can almost hear the segue to the story now... "Reality tv has been sweeping through free-to-air tv at the speed of a Formula 1 car, but it makes you think what kind of reality the tv executives are living in when they have trouble switching to Formula 1 races from reality tv, all the while driving home from their high paid jobs in their Formula 1 inspired sports cars as they escape the reality of their jobs in tv"

Nielsen haven't done the ratings in the sydney area (or any other city in Australai) for over 7 years now, you sure you aren't in the OzTAM ratings program?

I faxed 10 the letter i sent to admin@formula1.com and also a link to this thread.
I checked on the F1 website which shows if you convert to local time the race is on Sunday night at 22.00, Channel ten have on thier website advertised the Sunday night race at 10.40pm So once again we do not have live coverage, and Saturday Qualifing is also a delayed telecast.

please take the time to actually fax a complaint off to the TEN network.
