Insurance worth a lot more than what i could sell it for.
Classic.
I've had a few guys trying to tip things from my car (badges etc). I was at work one day and dad just happened to drive by and say hi. He goes to drive off and there are 2 wogs really scoping out the car. I dont know what was said, but my dad didn't even have to get out of the car and they were gone. I would've felt sorry for them tho, he's 6'2, 120kg+ ex body builder, plenty of police/security training.

Hmm since you could never tell if they had a weapon on their person, i'd use the red emergancy button on the remote fob.

in a dream world where I had a set of runners on ready to go and near the front door when I heard the alarm go off? grab the putter out of my golf bag and go for the rear of the chest about lung height i guess.

Personally i'd prefer them to get disturbed and run off then have a confrontation.

I had sometry to steal my hilux as you may know a real old hilux you can start it with a screwdriver new ways the funny part of this story is i had the engine out. I came to front (hearing the smasking of glass) of the house as i live in the back garage and no one else was in the house he was sitting there trying to turn it over i told him to clutch start it and i grab his bike locked it in our garage, by this time the the 16 year got out of the car a sized me up he was bigger and he had a few swings at me but 2 years of boxing helps. but this is the best part one of my dad and his mate turn up from pig hunting and my mates dad had his big dog in the back you could nearly pass him of as a horse and they saw what was going on and got the dog onto him the dog would never hurt a person but a pig you don't need a gun or knife when you go out with this dog its pig crazy. all the dog did to the kid, as he ran down to the back fence was knock the lad to the ground before he could jump our 6 foot fences and licked him to death the lad was screaming and hitting the dog trying to get him off because he thought he was being mauled and the dog just laid on top of him licking his face. we did call the cops cause i scored a $500 bmx and later that day we fitted the new engine which my dad and his mate brought around with them.

Happened to me once, bloke tried to break into my coupe parked down the side of my house,my dog(a quite large alsatian) bailed him up against the side of the fence, woof(the dog) then informed me of this occurence. i came out told the bloke not to move or make a sound or the dog would rip him up ( this was about 2AM) and went back to bed, rang the cops at 8AM, they took him away laughing their heads off....

I'd be going with setting off the panic alarm on the car.
I did it a few months ago when I saw a couple of guys walk into my backyard. They bolted back to the car they got out of and left.

We had a German Shepherd years ago, and he wasn't too useful as a guard dog.
If anyone had been trying to break in he would have walked over and offered to help.

I'd do the same as Mopar Man. Except I wouldn't wait to punch myself up. Last time I checked self defence was perfectly acceptable, as long as you don't use a weapon.

Failing which, I'll just move to Texas where you can legally shoot the bastard.

Hardtop that's golden!

Back on topic.
I'd ask the person if he locked his keys in and needed a hand to open the door.
Then I'd press the busson on my remote ;)

After that [Not appropiate for public forums] and then I'd wipe the blood of my boots and drive home.

No one mess's with my cars!
Section 458 of the crimes act allows any person to arrest a person on certain grounds and to effect that arrest may use resonable force. If a thief is caught in the act damaging/stealing etc your car you may arrest that person and hold them until police arrive. Of course this is not always wise. If they resist you may you reasonable force, not disproportional, to keep them in custody.

I actually remember my aunty getting caught trying to steal a car ! Was about 5 years back , went shopping, came out to go home , the 4 runner wont unlock ! so now the key wont turn because there is something wrong with the romote control alarm system! So she gets a peice of packing tape and she is trying to open the car , when a bloke and his missus accost her . The woman gets on her phone top call the cops , and the bloke has her in the corner of the car park ! They wont listen to a thing she is saying ! Its their car and my aunts car was about half a dozen rows away !

Yes my aunt is a blonde , and an ex international swim suit model , not famous though! just very blonde !

this is the same woman who caught a taxi home from somewhere one day , to find the car missing ! She knows the uncle is out of town and its not in the driveway anymore ! calls the cops , makes out a report , informs the insurance company , the whole bit! Coppers call her the next day to inform her they have found the car ! In the carpark of the place she had caught the taxi home from ! And NO , she was not drunk !

I'd tie them up, lock them under the house and go on holidays for a few weeks

You must've seen me do that... Walking home from the pub and see a bloke with a coat hanger working on my old XC... Walked up behind him and asked if he needed any help... "Locked my keys in my car" was the response... Damn those drivers windows are expensive.
