They are called 1%ers for a reason. By their own admission they're the 1% that ruin it for everyone else. Since this I think they had their clubhouse forfieted to The Crown too.

May 20, 2007

POLICE have banned the Bandido bikies from drinking at their favourite Sydney hotels after a Vietnam war veteran was bashed by 10 of the outlaw gang's members.

Detectives were so appalled by the brutality of the assault, and the fact the man had no bikie affiliations, they made a pact to lock the culprits up.

Police sources said the incident was a turning point in Commissioner Ken Moroney's determination to launch a major crackdown on bikie violence, announced a fortnight ago.

"Ever since it happened, the Bandidos have had the bounce put on them," said one officer involved in the investigation.

The identity of the 59-year-old victim, who was dragged from his car and beaten unconscious for "getting in the way" at a set of traffic lights, is being kept closely guarded.

Their three local watering holes - the Ettamogah and Mean Fiddler hotels at Rouse Hill and the Bull and Bush at Baulkham Hills - have been ordered by police to close their doors to known Bandidos members.

The police can order publicans to ban the bikies under special community safety provisions in liquor laws.

Up to 50 officers from the police gangs and riot squads, as well as the Castle Hill and Quakers Hill local area commands, have repeatedly confronted the Bandidos at their Kellyville clubhouse and other venues since the bashing.

Police say the man was set upon by up to 10 Bandidos at the corner of Old Windsor and Schofields roads in the city's north-west, in late January.

Moments earlier, about 150 riders wearing Bandidos's colours had illegally blocked right-of-way traffic at the junction and roared through a red light.

The victim was said to have been so shaken he declined to press charges.

Despite difficulties in establishing the identities of those involved, police were committed to bringing charges, Castle Hill Crime Manager Detective Inspector Gary Hutchens said.

"They had their faces covered with bandannas and pulled down caps, and they also had their licence plates obscured," he said.

"A number of witnesses were spoken to at the scene but we're keen to hear from anyone who might have further information."

Gangs Squad Commander Superintendent Scott Whyte told The Sun-Herald police had used the state's Liquor Accord legislation to invoke the hotel bans.

"Firstly, we targeted these fellows on pub nights by working out where they were and indicating to them that they were not going to get away with what happened," he said.

"We then went to work with the accord and we've come to the point where a series of major hotels have barred the Bandidos completely."

It has also been revealed that members of the same Bandidos chapter were involved in a shooting at North Parramatta's Royal Oak Hotel about a month ago.

Sources claim a group of rival Rebels bikies went to the pub looking for the Kellyville chapter's president, following the bashing of a senior Rebel in Parklea prison on April 12.

They were chased off and then fired on by a number of Bandidos members, four of whom were later arrested and released.

The clash was yet another instalment in an ongoing tit-for-tat battle between the warring tribes.

Another stupid decision from another government out of touch with reality.

A family friend of ours who recently passed away was a member of the Hells Angels, he was the scariest looking bloke I've ever met, but also one of the most gentle. My parents, who are pretty quiet and conservative, met him through the Maribyrnong Orchid society, of which my Mum was a senior member.

The guy had 2 passions - orchids and bikes. He was such a nice guy, always down to earth and ready to help. He also had the coolest and loudest Harley trike I've ever heard! :evil3:

Not all bikies are bad.. just as not all car enthusiasts are hoons.

I think you also need to take into account the "entry requirements" that prospective members must pass before gaining membership to most of the targeted clubs too....

You would have to have rocks in your head no not be aware of what 1% Bikie gangs get up to and how they make their money. I ride several bikes. Not all bikies are bad. All 1% clubs are. Anyone who bashes a 60yo Vietnam Vet with his bikie mates like a little coward deserves everything he gets.

the club in my town has a 3m high patrolled wire fence and 2 manned lookout towers despite being located in a quiet residental street.

if they need that type of security they're up to no good. i wont miss them if they get shut down

Why do people think that all bikie gangs/MCCs will be targeted or affected by these laws? The government has information on which clubs are causing trouble/illegal activity. They're not just going to pull the names of a few clubs out of a hat.

Though perhaps in the future this law might be abused to the detriment of all motorcycle lovers.

If the government has all these "information" why doesn't it use it to gather "evidence" and charge them with something.

Oh thats right because the "information" is actually just rumor.

I spent a lot of time at an MC clubhouse in the 80's. Shared a house with a member. Some great guys in that club, and some since passed. Many parties, and many clubs at them. As with life, there are always exceptions to the rule, but most I met were hard working trades people and family men.

Yes they are generalised as bad, but this is a small minority in the big picture.

Oh good old Premier Rann at it again, what happened this time, one of them pulled up next to his Chauffeur Driven Government Vehicle on a thumpin-loud Harley and he couldn't hear his Phantom of The Opera CD???

Yes, there are 1% of them out there that break the law, commit crime and all the other stuff that he's trying to stop. But, the impression that I get from the bikies, is even though they can and do look quite large and scary, but as a general rule they keep to themselves. I've been in pubs and clubs and stuff and seen bikie-looking guys, and not one of them has come up to me and forced me to buy drugs, not one of them has threatened me, and not once have they bothered me.

Yes, they might sell drugs, but to people who want them. I know that taking them is against the law, but if the people wanting them are that addicted and hanging, they'll get their fix from somewhere, bikie or otherwise. Cut one source down, another will pop up, its almost like a mythological hydra.

As for the murders that they supposedly commit, as far as I know they don't just randomly go out looking for somebody to murder. Yes murder is bad, but usually its someone who owes them a lot of money, or has effed-over their club pretty majorly.

I dunno I'm kinda torn, as much as I would like to live in an idealistic, crime-free society, I realise this is never going to happen, but on the same token I know that since I mind my own business and don't harass or get in the way of the bikies I *SHOULD* be fine on a day to day basis from them - I'm probably much more likely to get attacked walking down the street by some junkie for my wallet than I am murdered by a bikie.

Sorry if this doesn't make too much sense, its taken me a fair while to write because I'm doing other things at the same time, but hopefully you'll get the general idea of where I'm coming from.

The family of the young girl in Milperra (sp?) would argue differently. I know you said should, but should isnt good enough, especially when the victim is a kid, albeit unintentional.

When they start carrying on all 'hollywoodesque', theres no defending them. Even Ivan Milat had friends.

I completely agree with the junkie remark though. But thats related too isnt it given the reasoning given by the premier?

I've seen tons of fights in my time, but never once have I seen bikies involved in a brawl. And most of the gang trouble you see on TV is between rival gangs, not between gangs and people outside of them, so let 'em go for it I say.
