Yesterday after 12 years + 20 days of mostly loyal service my EB drove out of my driveway for the very last time. Brought a tear to my eyes.

To ease the pain a bit I went to the RTA and swapped the plates onto my "new" daily driver which was very much a last minute decision as I was on my way to the airport to pick up the new owner.

The replacement daily driver is quite adequate being as it's a BA Fairmont Ghia which is already on LPG and has dark tinted windows (just like my EB had). I still can't believe that I paid less for a 7 year old Ghia than I paid for a 6 year old GLi back in 1998 what's going on with the world?

The other pain easer is that my Capri will be fitted with as much EB stuff as I can make fit starting with the XR8 engine and 4 speed auto, cruise control and central locking if I ever get around to starting the conversion.

Funny thing is I'm typing this two years to the day after I started this thread purely by coincidence.

I've had my current EB for 3 years/50,000km and have only spent about $300 on maintenance for the old girl. I see it as excellent value, buting it as a 250,000km, $800 special.

Total definately doesnt include mods haha.

Had my current EB for 3 years now but all u with four of them apraching the 10 mark, i don't set out to buy them specifically but they seem to find me, my first EB GLi was great did a 100 thousand k's in a year and never touched it besides servicing and never looked back
went on to an EL and loved that too then sold it for my 1st V8 in an AU XR8 Ute then another EB found me as my current one and its an S XR8 series 1 with sunroof and manual, she's a keeper
at the moment it has the original E7 headed motor being freshened up and has the AU Gt40 headed motor in for a lil while then it will be back to Original to stay

I've had my EL Futura for 5 years, i learnt to drive with her and the only problem i had with her was the gearbox, but that fixed with a new replacement box. I absolutly love my car, when i'm angry or up set, the old girls puts a smile on my face.

The thing i would love to do is full rebuild from the shell up, but that would only happen if i won lotto.

Had my factory manual EF2 XR6 since new in december 95..now has 153000km and never needed any major repairs..still has factory fitted clutch,T5,motor ,diff and head gasket..its never let me down or needed major repairs..just regular servicing..Definitely keeping this one as my weekend toy...My current daily driver is a 2008 XR4 which is fun to drive, but my XR6 is the one that really puts a smile on my face.

Had my EB for about 2 months now lol.

But before the BA I had an EFII Gli 5.0L for 3 years / 65,000kms (bought at 240,000, sold at 305,000) and before that I had an EAII for 4 years / 60,000kms (bought at 230,000, sold at 290,000).

I do have a soft spot for the E-series, especially the square versions.

I bought my first EF in 1996. It was at Pickles, the original owner had the car repossessed, and I wanted it from the second I walked in. I kept that one for three years, and had a lot of fun in it. It was a LeMans Red, Manual, XR6, and went for a Nissan Patrol.

In 2008, so we could afford to lease an X5, we couldn't have two new cars, so I sold our other one to my Brother, and bought an EF. I wanted something that was comfortable, and hopefully trouble free. I've been driving it now since 2008, and although it isn't being driven daily any more - we've got a BFII on Gas, I still enjoy sitting behind the wheel, and cruising. It's not going anywhere in a hurry.

This my second E series, I sold my EF II XR8 ( speed, ticky kit, BA XR8 17s) at the start of the year . . . stupidest thing I have done yet.

So two weeks ago I bought a EL II XR8, auto, option 20 and already the joy of having an E series is back :-)

EF GLi Wagon - Bought in Nov 2001 with 61,000km's on the odo for $14,000.... Now has 400,538km's on the odometer...

Was still on it's original engine, and if it hadn't run short of engine oil once (read dumped on the road), then it'd still be going strong!!..

EB2 Fairmont - Bought back on the 7th April 2011 for $1400 after the AU was written off.... Had 252,539km's on the odometer, but the cog was broken, haha....

E Series....still the best shaped Falcon IMO............

Had my Sprint for over 16 years now, bought her ex demo from Nuford (WA) early 1995. Really would hate to think of how much money I've spent on her since............

Also, had my EBGT for 8 years now. She's clicked up a grand total of 31,000 K's since new. I do try to drive it every now and then, but it's either got a flat battery or there's too much dust to see out the windows.....

Every one loves their eseries - yeah they can be a pain but whenever some one sells one they usually regret it...............

Should ask for pics in this thread of your car as well

Greetings

Bought my EF XR6 sedan new in 1994 (Cobalt blue) - currently with 150,000

Looked after the car religiously till 2002 when I started my own business and gave the car to the misses full-time. Unfortunately, my now ex, decided the car didn't need to be serviced washed or generally looked after.

Forward to 2010 and my old business car gets written off by a group of youths out to have fun. Insurance paid out so I bought an AU 111 XR6.

Health issues have called an end to my working life and I am presently trying to negotiate with the Superannuation fund to release my funds before the inevitable happens. What I plan to do is restore the EF XR6 back to it's former glory purely as it rolled of the assembly line - totally stock.

So all going well there will be a build thread happening - stay tuned !

Had a few
EB1 ghia 5l, 1year 2005
EF fairmont 5l 5years from 2006
ED sprint, currently still own, never driven, since 08,
EL xr8, current since 2011..

had a few other types of fords including LTDs and au's

Most anoying part as i have noticed with a few peoples posts is the extreme deaprication in these models, remember looking at EL2 xr8s back in 05 being worth still $15000, now most of these models are around 5k,

Could be worse or rather it was worse. When I bought my EB back in 1998 they were running at the $9-11K price bracket however if I wanted something a bit flashier an NC Fairlane was going to set me back about $28,000 ditto an ED XR6.

I can't complain I paid $8,500 for the EB wagon off a mate in 1998 and sold it 12 months ago for $2000 so $6,500 in 12 years is not that bad.

I have never borrowed money for a car as the interest just adds insult to the injury of depreciation. Besides if you can't afford the car today after a couple of years saving for it your cash goes up and the value of the car goes down so you can then buy it.

A psychologist friend told me a good way to look at it was when you purchase a car consider the money that you paid for the car gone forever. Then if you sell the car anything you get back is a bonus. I guess that's OK if you are a well paid mind reader.
