Endura, Everest, Escape and Puma all combined for a healthy jump....

Buyers liked what they saw and could afford to buy what they wanted.
Maybe a few more of those plain speaking ads and see what happens.
I guess dealers putting new models into the demo fleet as well as the media launches for Escape and Puma would have accounted for the jump in sales.

I'd be very interested in knowing the Breakup of Private & Business Rego's the last couple of Months. 'cause (In My opinion) the $150K tax write off for Business's is the main driver of Sales the last couple of Months...

Pretty encouraging on the new Escape, Everest has good numbers too.

Ford would be a bit happy with this.

Also, there's a delivery van racing series?!

Now didn’t V facts move to single out that process and
discount those sales to own dealers as not genuine sales?
Was there a change of recoding sales or am I mistaken?

Dont think so, the belief is that those demo's will be sold eventually, which is true, so they're just added to the tally now instead of then.
You may remember back a while ago i noticed new Focus with sub 100k's on them appearing in dealers used car lots at heavily discounted prices, i questioned the legitimacy of the sales as registering them as demo's and sending them off to be sold cheaply makes a mockery of the whole system but quickly got shot down as a rego is all thats necessary.

I think that also happened with Mitsubishi as well, I wonder if dealers get stuck
with certain trim combos that just don’t sell.

Most brands don’t engage in a lot of zero km demos because it kills profits so
it’s kinda self limiting and usually a gimmick or just a slow moving floor plan.

Honestly don’t know if Ford finally got stock from Europe to sell or just
sold a few cars to their own fleet or had some zero km demos.
Whatever they did worked but the acid test is to repeat it again this month.

I wasn't suggesting that Fords November numbers were the result of dodgy bulk registrations to inflate sales numbers, like Mitsubishi, Nissan and Holden tend to do regularly.

My theory was around the idea of every dealer getting stock and registering a few for actual demo's. A bulk registration for press cars would also add up.

This is why i asked last month if anyone knows exactly how many Ford dealers there are nationwide as they only need to register a couple of any new product each to boost numbers for the initial months.
All manufacturers benefit from the visual advantage it presents but as a % of total sales, Fords demo's would do more for its position in the tightly contested 4th-6th position than Toyota's would for its.

Personally i think you need to look further than month to month or even qtr by qtr as a close look at any models sales chart will show spikes and troughs, the real picture is total yearly sales.
When a manufacturer releases new models in a particular calendar year you need to see a jump in that measure.
Kia is a good example of a recent fleet facelift/new model offering which has lifted its standings in this area.

Yeah they did change the process regarding unsold cars that have been registered. They no longer count as sales until they are genuinely sold to a customer.

I misspoke about VFacts cracking down on demos when it was fictitious vehicle sales.

When we look at actual sales for Ford’s SUVs, they had a better month
but nothing like the other top five brands, so relatively speaking, there’s
nothing spectacular about sales measured in the hundreds but the needle
did move for Ford so shocked a few for sure...but can they keep doing it?

Most of them Enduras, Pumas and Escapes were dealer registered demos... endura is pretty much finished now with last months rush of demos to get bonus money banked.

The Endura needed the 2.0l turbo petrol engine sold here in the Escape. The likes of Mazda know that mid size diesel suvs just dont sell like the petrol models.

The other issue is price... Mustang pricing aside, Fords products arent perceived as premium and need competitive pricing to reflect that.

Getting stock out of Europe is still an issue due to corona production problems.

Shame the Americans wouldn't extend Endura but with the US 2.0 EB,
I have a sense that the petrol engine would have done much better.

I'd suggest that buyers couldn't get to the dealers in august, september and october because of lockdown restrictions, so when they were relaxed there was a pent up demand for new cars. expect it to drop way back down in december.

Default Re: Vfacts november 2020

Fords numbers were inflated by demos.

The reporting issue was only if cars were undriven (like in the old days Ford and Holden would tell dealers to register Falcons / Commodores to get the bonus but they didn't need to be driven). To get the bonus's and advertise them they need to be driven these days or used as service loan cars etc.

Fords numbers are highly skewed in November because of this, and the Fact that Ford pressured dealers into registering all Endura's and running them as service loaners for 4 months to get the big rebate.

There would be less then 50 new Endura's left as new cars now I reckon (most of which will be registered this month).

Escape and Puma are a no brainer, most dealers would have registered at least 1 of each if not 2 as demos. I don't think the momentum will last.

Everest on the other hand is a different story, its really started to shine since they bought the Sports model out, the younger gens really like the look of it but its still got no leg on Prado.

Yes the sports model is selling very well. They will look to expand on this.

Everest has been a slow burn, but it increases in sales every year.

Interesting how people have flocked to this brand in recent months.

https://www.carexpert.com.au/car-new...um-in-november

"Only two rivals managed to shift more units last month, those being the Mitsubishi ASX (1465 units) and the Hyundai Kona (1453 units). Closely behind the MG were the Kia Seltos (1058 units) and Mazda CX-30 (1038 units)."

That steady sales increase also happened at a time when Ford switched to the 2.0 diesel
and yes the sports model builds on that momentum. It keeps chipping away, increasing
sales much the same way that T6 Ranger did shouldering its way up the sales ladder.

Sure, the other Ford SUVs could have increased sales due to more demos registered by
dealers but given the already premium prices charged by Ford, having a few exceptional
deals for buyers is the right way to seed interest back into those vehicles. Rather than
being loss leaders, Ford's demo strategy is probably a better way to fill the now vacant
base model role without lowering the value perception of those models.

Everest sales are promising but I cant see it fully taking on the Prado.

The Everest needs to grow some shoulder room but wont while its based on the Ranger unless it too grows. I tried to find some quick specs but its too painful to attain 2nd row shoulder widths.

People thought the same about Ranger compared to Hilux.

The next model has styling that will make it extremely appealing, and i'm expecting it to draw in a lot of that ground.

But mining fleets buy a lot of Prados and that will give Toyota the sales it needs to stay ahead. Everest won't outsell it, but i'd expect it to take some ground back.
