Come on and be fair!
I think this is a horrible thing to do. I'm not sure if it is illegal, but I think it is morally wrong.
Give the genuine fans a chance to buy the tickets at a reasonable price!

Absolutely.

There are people who genuinely want to see it, and some other MFers are buying s**t loads just to make extra money on people who wanna see it.

People like that make me sick.

I cried all monday...the problem I had is that we are moving to Sydney at the end of the year so I was after Sydney Tickets.
With daylight saving it meant the tickets were on sale for an hour before the Ticketek office opened up here. The only chance we had was getting on the net and the phone which we couldnt get.
This time round the ticketek office will open at 8 so at least we are in with a chance. So I am not taking any chances I will be at Ticketek at sparrow fart, hubby is getting up early to log onto the web and a friend is doing the same.
Hopefully everything goes to plan on monday and I get my two tickets.

Got mine too. Went to the local Ticketmaster agency (at a newsagent) and wondered where the queue was. When I asked I was given a numbered ticket '85'. So I'm #85? No, 185 - that's the second book.

Not so good, so on to Myer Knox City.

Here was the more traditional scene. A queue outside the nominated door, some with chairs, some still in sleeping bags, etc. So I stood in the queue for a couple of hors before sales started, and half an hour later had my tickets. Those that counted said I was about #70 in the queue. By then 'B reserve' (seats in line with the stage) had sold out, but since I was after general admission, it was OK. I JUST WANTED TICKETS!

Now wondering if I'll meet up with any of my new 'queue buddies' on the night...

Yeah gotta thank the local ticketek for opening up an hour early so at least we were in with a chance this time to get the tickets.

Just checked out U2.com, Kanye West is the supprt act for the Australia shows. Seems like a weird combination.

Hmmm, doesn't sound like it will be down my alley, according to this. It looks like any early attendance on my part will be soley due to getting a good spot in the general admission area...

Hey, maybe if Split Enz wants to do a few 'warm-up' gigs before their own tour... _2:

I was there Martyvan, inside the ellipse/innerzone, at the very front of the left 'arm stage', the bit that comes out into the audience, if you know what I mean. It was unreal. Best show I've ever seen.

...so how did you get in? I thought it was to be a virtual ballot system, but reports indicate it was first-in-best-dressed?

I'm now wondering how early you have to queue up to get into the 'zone'...

The 'zone' was a section of pre sold tickets. QSAC sold them, not Ticketek, and i believe it included a meal/drinks pre concert also.

It was an awesome concert... unfortunately i was one of those 'stuck' outside which is why it was late, really bizarre set up to be honest...

Considering the sheer logistics to get the show to the point where the first chord is played, I'm still amazed that it ever comes together (faulty lemons notwithstanding)!

The ballot system was only used in the US. For all the aussie shows its first in best dressed.

While its true that QSAC sold 1000 'inner zone' tickets, which supposedly guaranteed you entry to the inner zone, in reality, they screwed up, and only those people with QSAC tickets who decided to skip the pre-show VIP party/drinks and line up actually made it into the inner zone. I think QSAC is going to be refunding some money to a number of those people.

My friends and I had General Admission (GA) tickets and we lined up from 9am and were in the first 300 people there, however I met others in the inner zone who arrived at 2pm and still made it in. But really, theres no guarantees, so just line up as early as you can. The guys who were at the very front of the queue slept overnight outside QSAC.

They let about 2500 into the inner zone. Once you were in, you could leave to buy drinks, go to the toilets, etc, by getting a stamp on your neck, which allowed you back into the inner zone.

Myself and my wife were there as well. We caught a bus from the city around 5:30 or so and inside the stadium at about 7:10. Most of that time, believe it or not, was standing in line outside the stadium.

I have never ever ever felt like cattle as much as last night.

Aside from the unpleasant experience getting and the even more unpleasant experience leaving, the concert was good. U2 weren't as good as I thought they would be (the music was top notch, vocals were good....but just didn't have that 'energy'), but the the visuals were they best i'd ever seen.

I still can't forget when Bono asked everyone with a mobile phone to hold them up in the air. At least 1 in 5 people had a phone and it was amazing watch the audience made up of stars.

Ah yes, it's the modern equivalent of the old ciggie lighter thing, and much more comfortable for whoever is resposible for fire safety at the venue!

Thanks for that blutura, sounds like the sleeping bag won't be necessary after all (although the situation could change by the time they get to Melboune sleep: ). I think I try to get in the queue by lunch and see how it goes.
