I think we've all come to the conclusion that hot weather sucks.

This is not good.

That hot wind is a bugger, can't stand it. Every day I seem to be doing concrete it's 40+!

No wonder the firey's are stressing....the combo of rain late last year making everything grow, then extremely hot weather this year has dried it all out, there is plenty of fuel to burn that is so dry.

Decent size fire out in Kilmore East, Mt Disappointment I have been told. 48 crews there and it is a biggun.

EDIT: another big one out Bunyip way that has broken containment lines.

We always get hot summers, Melbourne/Victoria along with South Australia/Adelaide get some of the hottest summers out of all the capital cities. Melbourne always has this myth of being miserable and wet cold weather all the time, but its just that, a myth, Sydney and Brisbane get more rainfall than Melbourne does, I think Brisbane is even as high as twice as much rain, Melbourne gets cold for about 3-4 weeks in Winter the rest is good weather, the weather in Melbourne has to be the most relaxed. Only thing that can ruin it is when it drizzles rain all day.

temperature sign in southbank up road from me said 47 today, needs to be a little hotter i reckon ;) but very windy driving through the city, went through queen vic market to splash some cash and it was a stinker.

couple of times walking along the street and got some wind on my legs/feet and it felt like they were burning in a fire

It's now getting worse, the Kilmore one is burning 1000 hectares and has 83 crews in attendance with it heading straight toward the town of Hidden Valley.

There are now 83 tankers up at Kilmore, apparently fire heading straight for hidden valley where a large estate is, also other estates on the other side of Kilmore

I hope Chris (Bluepower) and his wife are ok. I'm pretty sure Chris is out there fighting them as we speak.

Yes, I think he's on the Melb side of Kilmore?

My brother is in amongst it too, he's up in Broadford but has been out with the CFA since this morning. No doubt the outer Met brigades will be up there too

Hume Hwy between Clonbinane and Wallan is blocked, this will do some pretty hefty damage if the change doesnt come soon

Having a look here http://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/incidents/...nt_summary.htm I don't think there will be too many crews not involved. They're popping up everywhere.

I think this is going to be a bad day.

Yeah, I'm waiting to see if it's going to reach me. I know people in the towns about 20-30km to the east are suffering from numerous spot fires and can see the flames of the main blaze from their houses; and most roads that go east out of my town (Pakenham) have been closed. I think the wind has changed direction now though so it should all be good hopefully. Hope not too many homes were or will be lost.

I always intended to stay inside today. I started the A/C about 10am to keep the house cool - nice, cool and comfy at 26 degrees inside. Best $2000 I've spent on the house. I just checked the BOM site and damn - it has reached that 47 in parts of Melbourne. As long as the power stays on it'll be OK

The change is rolling through SA it seems, so maybe we'll see it here late today

Whittlesea has been put on notice, as the Kilmore fire is spreading south

In Bundoora everywhere is dark with smoke. There seems to be little spot fires breaking out everywhere

Looks like the change might be a couple of hours away - most areas in Western Vic have dropped 10 degrees and the wind has changed

Does anyone else know anything?
Looks like this rumour had some truth to it.
