Euro Look Plates Have Arrived in Victoria

I have nothing against these plates but what gets me is when people put them on Aussie cars - there is an AU Fairmont here with the NSW equivalent of these plates and it looks rather odd.

Each to their own though. Something a bit different, why not?

$700 is a lot guys - in NSW its $190 for unpersonalised or $50 + $130 annual fee for personalised.

NSW rate is every year though, I think the Vic rate is a once off payment.

Yeah your exactly right for personalised plates- but from a cash flow perspective $130 each year is a hell of a lot easier on the pocket than $700!

If you go non personalised its just the $190 payment

True, its easier to pay the sum, but id rather pay once off $700 and keep the plates for as long as I want instead of being slugged $190 EVERY year. Ripoffs and Taxes Authority sure know how to screw you over.

In NSW there is a heap of Audi's, BMW's ect with them, and they do look much better than the standard issue.

HOWEVER:

Please please please no one put them on a Commodore or Falcon, I see at least one a day and they look absolutley S#$ite!

I think they look excellent on Euro cars. Am seriously considering getting one. Like all things its horses for courses and they dont suit all cars.

They look good - i take it they're longer than taller than the slimline 'sports' plates?

I don't understand why they have to have a different numbering system - why couldn't they just produce a plate the right size/shape and use the standard numbers? Surely that'd be cheaper/easier (although maybe less attractive to the euro-crowd i guess). I'd beat out my own plate before paying $700! I thought my slimlines @ $50 was a rip!

As for the numbering system its largely the same. 3 letters, and three numbers, just offset in different possies, and with a 'V' as the first letter.

so ABC - 123 becomes V-BC 123. As for the uptate, I ordered mine this morning, and they will take anywhere from 10 days to 4 weeks (hopefully not the latter). The guy also told me that there has been quite a bit of interest in them. Hope they look ok!

Shouldn't be that long, I was told my plates would be 2-3 weeks due to supply problems (prison riot?) and I had them 3 days later, go figure.
