There are a few vans [White] locally but I did a google for a picture, they refer to specialty body modifications of various suppliers.
YES it all comes own to they stopped making the falcon wagon-and should have kept the LWB as the basic falcon name plate if the real reson was they had too many varients, and if it was cost[unlikely] relocate the assembly line to a developing country that wants it. been difficult to find a replacement for my BF.

I wondered when someone would mentioned the Sundowner! Good stuff. How about a 300C based 'Drifter', lol.
Problem with the Falcon ute is the split between the tub and the cabin. Has anyone fitted a rear canopy to the tub that has access through to the cab? Great strength of the Falcon ute is the ability to do a 3 seater with column shift.

Yes, and its why I ended up purchasing a Gen-F SV Tourer (wagon) after BF and FG GTs. Needed extra space for trips including diving - the GT just couldn't fit it all (for both of us).
And yes, the car is (basically) great. As a driver, the GT was rawer and a bit more "fun", probably because it lacked the electronic stuff so now prevalent, but the GEN-F (340) is a great Aussie car - I would/may get another one before they finish. I had a new XB "Suferoo" 351 panel van back in the 70's. Rear decked out by Ford with (mandatory:-) curtains, side storage, rear seat that came down into a bed. Went/camped around Australia in it. |

Coming soon, the Chrysler 300C "Drifter" wagon and the Ford Falcon "Surferoo" ute.
Not forgetting the Holden Cruise XU1, Ford Fiesta GT500 and the Dodge Journey R/T (OMG, the last one is already here......). |

OK, it's hardly a "sandman' by any standards, however it will boost sales.
Something Ford know nothing about.

Unless it's a 'panel van' it's not a Sandman.

Sticker pack? Yeah, that's just a fact of life these days. You can't re-create the cars, what we have are just subtle reminders of what they may have been.
The Ford ones never bothered me. For the record I quite like these Sandman things, the wagon in particular looks good.

Correct. The original sandman was a ute with a canopy slapped on the back. Are they even offering a canopy with this new sandman ute?

Saw this mentioned on the Today show this morning. Funny thing was they were showing an old film clip of an XB GS panel van during the report. Holden PR wouldn't have been happy. Ha Ha

Some of you lot are embarrassing.
Deliberately drawing comparisons to the panel van version and its lack of availability in this new rendition to discredit the whole concept. Where's the problem, the original Sandman ute was just a sticker pack, the new one is the same. Obviously Holden don't make a panel van any more so the wagon is as close as it gets. Chances are the Ute will be the desirable option to have as it has the closest ties with the original. When someone says the phrase 'GT Falcon' what image does it conjure up, without a doubt the most desired feature of all GT's, the shaker. So it would be fair to say a modern GT without the shaker is just a sticker pack. |

Guys I know this is a Ford site, however your missing some history here. Sandman was introduced in the HQ model holden in both ute and panel van through to and including the HZ. Not some canopy stuck to a ute.1974 just before the HJ was realesed.

I don't mind the white ute. Black wagon less so. Hate the seat fabric.

Who designed the interior? Stevie Wonder?
That orange shaggy fabric looks horrible. |
