I always liked the XP but an AU Ghia Mk 111 Tickford i6 was the best built Falcon I have owned.

Default Re: Which was your favourite Falcon?

I've had many big Fords over the past 34yrs.... but for me, the XB will always be my favourite... any XB Sure... there'd be a fair bit of nostalgic attachment in that... as it was my Father's brand new white XB Fairmont with black interior and 351 that cemented my love of all things Ford... and I had 5 examples myself, when the time came (Sedan, Wagon & Utes). I moved on to newer models over the years, but I still think they are fantastic looking cars !

I've also had ZF, ZG & NL V8 Fairlanes.... and still own the NL. It's been a fantastic car over the last 17yrs... still in original condition and people who ride in it can't believe how good it still is to cruise in. I'll be keeping it, that's for sure !

But the best Ford I've owned is my BF2 Wagon. It's a great daily driver, a strong workhorse, the best cross country cruiser... and a great off road explorer ! It's even fun to take for a fang !

As much as I love the XB's... they just can't match the newer models for their driving dynamics (as you would expect).

Dhru

To work on or to drive?
Being a Ford mechanic can give one a reason to pick holes in a lot of the Falcon models [ like any other manufacturer of course ]
XP manual with the 170 Pursuit motor was such an easy combination to work on and to drive.
Nice to drive the HO's but not the easiest to work on.

The answers are probably going to depend on the posters age, and what they grew up with. So for me I have a real soft spot for the EF/EL XR6. My first brand new car. I sold it as it was in an accident, and I knew it was never going to be the same again.

Love the XD XE XF range - even if they were a pile of ****. I know, I owned 4 of 'em.

The ED XR8 Sprint is up there - love the shape.

XA-XC coupes. Though to be honest I can't think of many models I wouldn't own.

In recent years I've become quite fond of the BA/BF FPV's. They kind of remind of a better time when Ford was king of performance back in the 60's/70's and had the enthusiasm to match.

Showing my age with this selection,
3rd place- Had a new XF fairmount with factory Bilstein sports suspension, a top road car.
2nd place- XR 289 fairmount, dad had one as a company car, jeese it was quick compared with previous cars he'd had. Left a real impression on a 14 year old.
1st place- Any XY with an 8. auto good, manual better.

My prefect Falcon?, current model with a XY body

BA because that's when the I6T was born.
Prior to the I6T I was a Holden fan through and through (did own a MK1 Escort and XD at one stage) HT, HZ, Monaro, numerous Torana's and Commodore's.

I remember seeing a manual BA Turbo sedan (Phantom) coming down the road sideways and the psshhtt coming from the blow off valve everytime he changed gear - thats when I thought I may go over to the darkside and checkout these XR6 Turbo's.

Approx. 2 or 3 months later I had a manual BA XR6 Turbo ute parked in my driveway.

I've owned 4 turbo Falcons since including a modded BF Typhoon which is the quickest car I've ever owned.
FG GTP 335 was a close second.

My first "love" would be my 1967 XR sedan. Towed a 16ft caravan all around the eastern coast, and it never missed a beat. Was also the only 60's vehicle I owned that never showed any signs of rust.

Second on my list would be my 1984 XE S-Pack ute. 4.1L EFi engine as sweet as they come, and could comfortably drive more than 1000km a day.

They're all my favourite's in their own way, over the years my family or I have owned a XP Fairmont, XY Fairmont, Fairlane Marquis, Fairmont GXL, XC Falcon panelvan, XD Falcon, EA Falcon SPack, AU Futura, BA Falcon & my current AU XR6 VCT.

Reliable, fun motoring over the years with no big problems with any of them courtesy of on time servicing, good build quality & not thrashing the bejesus out of them.

Falcon may be going but to me they will never disappear from my heart, they are like family!!!

cheer's, Maka

The XA/B were my favorite aussie muscle car. My father had a XB GS 5.0 before I was born. But I had seen the pics. It was a nice looking machine.
I admired the XB and XA GTs, both coupe and sedan. The color combos, for the XA, brown and black and for the XB, orange and black.

The XP i admired for it's sleek look especially in 2 door form, didn't need power, just had the looks.

The modern era, hard one to decide but I have to say the FG S1 G6E T with the 19's looked a treat and in the darker purple color and cream interior. It was and still is the pick of the last 10 years of Falcons for me.

Growing up my mums daily was a 72 yellow XA GT 2 door coupe. She had it from new and sold it in 93. After 20 years car still looked like new. That car was awesome. The number plates even had XA in them

EA - ED. Love the square styling, has the solid feel of the 80's, steers nicely, lots of interior room, fairly simple and not bad to work on. Except the v8 in my Fairlane isn't the greatest to work on...
These cars can also take a high amount of abuse and keep going, built very strong. Seen countless bush hacks that have been through hell only to have a head gasket or tree end its life. It is a shame to see that but hey.

It was a revolutionary Falcon. Would love to purchase an EA manual S pack to sit beside the NC but unfortunately I'm maxed out for vehicles owned at one time.

The classic Falcons of the steel bumper era will always be amazing and epic but I'm a 90's kid haha.

XB is the best looking Falcon ever made, no contest really.

I have three keepers (coupe/sedan/ute) looking for at least two more, wagon will probably be next unless I trip over a cheap van beforehand.
