Having tossed around a number of options we will be going through the user groups during the next few days and migrating all the existing user base that joined prior to the start of this year with points based on the length of their membership. Seems the most even way at this point in time. This means that user who joined in 04/05 will have 75, 06 will have 60, 07 will have 50 and 08 will have 40.

Cheers
Russ

what i dont get is why 1 person has a p plate status and another with more posts is on a lower level

just wondering thats all ( and i only used those 3 people as my example )

You joined in 05 so you automatically start with 75 points (Enough points for P plater). Because it's automatic it wont show up I guess.

Is that an automatic system or is it being handed out manually?

Russ. I take it this system can't be manipulated, as in two members get together and click the little rep icon (what IS it anyway?) to build each others rep.

i would say it is a date set thing so it would be semi auto

ie russ or plext will have to put in a code for the dates with points joined up to the date set then the system will do it auto

just my thinking there

No that's why this is implemented

Quote:
Reputation points can only be allocated twice per day and there must be 30 other users allocated points before the same user can be awarded again.
So they would only be able to rep each other once before having to wait for 30 other members to rep them before they could rep each other again.

The updates require the running of SQL queries based on time stamped dates and I will be running these over the next couple of nights starting with the 2004/5 users first.

Cheers

If you had 31 people working together it might work but to be honest to much effort for just little green dots.

EDIT - Ok now I understand

Took me 5 damn minutes to load ford forums so I could edit this post.

Honestly, I can see it being the shiny new toy for a couple of weeks, and then most people will forget about it.

Nice. I for one like the idea.

As long as everyone keeps it all in perspective and it doesn't turn in to some sort of pi$$ing contest....

The first two batches of users have been updated - on the plus side your reputation levels are now set but on the minus side your post counts are reset back to where they were an hour ago when I took the database copy to make the changes to!

Cheers

so i'm still trying to work out how this works
by my calculations russellw, you should have about 200 points or so, not over 5000, am i correct? or have lots and lots and lots and lots of people found your posts helpful and have rep'd you lots? i'm a little confuzzled.

Half correct!
Mods, Super Mods and Admins were allocated points at various levels. My total was another db corruption that has now been fixed and there are likely to be others from user groups other than registered users where the same thing has happened. We will fix these as we find them.!

Admins are restricted to issuing 100 points regardless of their post count or length of membership.

Cheers
