I think I'll just ask one of the wreaker guys if they know if its got a bigger cam or not. They normally know whats on the cars.

Just had a quote to get the cat modified and fitted along with the extractors, $160. I think I'll just the cat from the wreakers for $60 and fit it myself.

Does $160 sound about right or is that a massive rip off?

The previous owner had done exactly this in my EL, the cat is just before the diff from memory. I had been wondering why this was done, thanks for clearing it up!

From what I understand though, moving the cat back means it doesn't get up to operating up to temp as quickly and therefore puts out more emissions as its warming and is therefore illegal. In theory exhausts are illegal too though, so doubt it really matters...
The diff is way too far back. I meant probably about a foot behind the flange at the end of the extractors...

Braden - can you weld? The cost of fitting will include cutting the cat, welding on larger flanges and bolting it together...unless the cat from the wreckers has larger flanges and is the same length+ bolt pattern as your current cat it wont fit.

Yeah, it's ridiculous! If I keep this one (still trying to decide whether to sell, part or keep) I'll chuck a normal redback exhaust that I've got at home, and put the cat in the normal posi - at least then I've got 1 less thing to worry about.

I got the cat from the wreakers, it came off the same car as the extractors. I'm going in to get some gaskets now and I'll be fitting it this morning. If it doesnt fit I'll be annoyed but we'll see how we go. I'll post pics when its done.

Burkie PM sent.

did you get them fitted yet Braden ? I repainted my Extracters the other day in VHT Hi Temp silver but I marked the paint in a few places refitting them.

hey i've got exactly the same problem, i bought some pacemaker 4499 and thought they would bolt straight up to my AU. I'm goin to check out some exhaust shops tomorrow and see how much it is to cut down the cat. my extractors came with a new flange to weld to the cut cat pipe along with a gasket so that could make it a bit cheaper.

I'll post back with what i find out and compare to your $160
