Gear at the bottom of the distributor. Still carried over once they got rid of the dizzy. I used to know the part number.

Might be interchangeable, but they wouldn't be the exact same part - valving would have changed throughout the years.

Child anchor point was the same from EB2 to Fgx, the colours changed a few times though.

Yeah it's definitely the oil filter. I had a spare I could use on the AU engine I dropped in my ED. I got a shock trying to change the one on the Soarer, you have to twist your arm in two directions to take that bastard off!

But isn't that 6-cyl only ??
I thought we meant all Falcons, but if we are talking longevity only, then the conrod bearing would win. Has anybody checked to see if the FGX has the same festoon dome light globe as the earliest? If it has that would win. Dr Terry Last edited by Dr Terry; 07-01-2020 at 10:58 AM. |

I believe that the front crankshaft seal is the same in every six. (I tried to buy one for my XM two years ago but none in stock, but he had one for a BA, it looked the same, it fitted and it worked.
The early starters are too big to fit in later models past XF however the smaller starters from later models will fit any six. If you fit a late model starter to an XD or earlier you must use a relay and extra wiring to bypass the ballast resistor when the starter is operating

The earliest (prior to XW) steering boxes had a shaft integrated with the input worm.
Re the dome lamps, I remember my XP hardtop had a bayonet fitting of the BA15S type. I used the wrong wattage (too high) and caused a little grief to things. Can’t remember if the XM wagon was festoon or bayonet, the XR definitely was festoon though. |

The distributor gear changed sizes (ID) around time of the crossflow’s introduction. I only remember this because Crow offered both fittings.

Weren't the barn doors on the panel vans the same from XA to XH ??
Funny how angular the XD-XH are but have nice curved rear doors.

XK-XPs used a 5W globe with a 15mm diameter bayonet fitting, not the same as FGX
