Otherwise you would just sell them for the face value price instead of touting for offers.

Mate I hope you or whoevers tickets they are get busted and when they go to enter the show they'll be denied coz the tickets arent allowed to be legally resold.

That will go down well wont it!

In fact I might buy them myself just to report it to Ticketek, and get em all cancelled. Money well spent. Bet you havent thought of that as a consequence have you?

Nah instead you just go out on the prowl looking for a quick buck.

Wrong buddy, scalping is selling tickets for MORE than the sale price. No where did he say that he was going to sell them for a premium price over and above the sale price, he said make an offer - if that offer is $80 and he accepts it its not scalping.

Spot on...... I double ordered powderfinger tickets and had 2 spares, and copped the biggest amount of crap when i said the same thing (make an offer) - I got 25c above face value because the dude that bought them couldn't be fagged with the exact amount......

XA Coupsta - not everyone has the same motives that you seem intent on making us believe...... and if you want to waster your money by buying them and not using them then more fool you....because that's exactly what scalpers want you to do - how best to deal with them- simple- don't buy them.

But, back on topic - I tried and tried to get tix for the Vic BDO, and bugger me they went quick... !!! Sure I could go onto ebay and pay 5 times the price but I'll pass thanks....

Thanks for the tip BLKPhoon. I can read. How about you learn to read between the lines.

As if he'll accept an 'offer' lower than the face value. You cant seriously believe that?

Especially when it is well known they are in high demand - with them selling on ebay for hundreds more than face value. Like he'll accept an offer lower than face value. Please - thats an insult to primary school level intelligence.

He was touting for offers. If he was going to do the right thing you'd announce that to begin with and say 'im just after what I paid for em'.

Sure someone would offer less than face value, someone might offer exact face value - the greatest chance (and this was his angle lets be real here) is someone is very willing to pay more than face value coz all the BDO's are sold out.

Scalping.

If you guys cant see that there are more suckers in this world than I first thought.

I got my tickets for the Auckland BDO, when I say that I mean they've been charged to be but the courier hasn't delivered them. RATM should be good, I'm hoping the Foo Fighters rumours turn out to be true, that would be f'ing killer.

Well constructed comeback Phoon.

For some reason I expected better.

Interestingly GRNKPR hasnt come back and continued to profess his innocence.

Do you think Phoon *shock* *horror* he was looking for a price for his tickets?

So what are you sticking up for............sucker?

nothing wrong with scalping, its the organisers I have problems with.

They allow it to happen by letting people buy 10 tickets or so. Who needs to buy 10 tix other than for scalping. They know this and still let it happen. Splendour in the grass make u give them the name and drivers license for every person coming and it gets printed on the ticket and if ur id on the day doesn't match whats on the ticket, no entry - that is doing something about scalping, BDO don't give a ^%$.

Ticketek also run online auctions and sell the tickets for however someone wants to pay, so does that make them scalpers too?

If you were selling your house at auction and someone bid higher than your reserve price would you stop the auction and take the money or let them keep bidding?? Wake up.

kremmen - no worries that you support scalping. thats your point of view and i have mine.

what was under question here was whether or not they were scalping - and yeh of course they were!

i agree with you - they should do the same ticket validation as splendour does. at the moment they dont. they had infact a limit of 4 per ticketek membership. not 10. even so - that can be exploited - but they have to draw the line somewhere? ive never heard of these auctions that ticketek themselves apparently hold that you mention so i cant comment there.

at the end of the day - scalping is illegal.

i personally have strong views against scalping and dont really want to see it occur on Ford Forums. F off to ebay and do your scalping if thats what you want.

selling a house at auction mate is not in the same ballpark as scalping concerts tickets. for starters auctioning a house is a valid and legal avenue to make that transaction.

maybe its a bit like walking down to your bottle shop to buy a carton. you and five others arrive to buy the 1 carton left - so the shopkeeper runs a quick auction to extricate a market value for that carton of beer - even though it has a retail value (like a concert ticket does. a house has a market value).

concert tickets often need to be resold for whatever reason. plans change, people dont go. but resell em at face value - thats only fair. otherwise you are ripping people off and be prepared to be labelled scalping scum (IMO - you support it - you go for your life and pay elevated value for these things then).

so that extra money that is made from scalping. none of that goes to the promoters (who put the show together), or the artists who perform. so why should someone else make money on a commercial venture that they arent involved with?

would you take your car to a mechanic, but pay the bloke living beside the mechanic the bill - and pay him another 20% extra on the bill than what the mechanic actually charges??? when the bloke you are paying hasnt even touched your car?

obviously greed is too much a factor for people - and they cant just sell them for what they paid for them.

Good points. People ask ridiculous amounts for GT's, or are bid on till very high prices on sites like eBay. I bet they're getting a LOT more than what they paid for them at the moment. They could easily sell it for less, but they choose not to, or see how much people are willing to pay.

Supply and demand really. Not many GT's left. Not many BDO tickets compared to the amount of people wanting to go. A guy buys 3 GT's when they were new and locks them in a shed purely for investment and has no plans to drive them, he's considered smart and 'lucky'. Someone buys extra tickets for a venue/event and he's considered scum.

Funny how it works ey.

I don't really support scalping but I don't really care either. I wanted GA tickets to RHCP which had sold out, I knew I was going to have to pay a premium and I did without complaint. $200 for one of the best nights of my life. It's only a days work!

I wouldn't agree with BDO or other venues doing a Splendour type system. Yeah it cuts out scalping but if it's sold out, makes it a bit unfair to those who want to get tickets second hand, no?

i agree, if i want front row tix for something then i have to go to a scalper for a chance, coz other wise i wouldn't get em.

I was at Sydney, only went to see Rage because I missed tickets to their SEC gig.

Best live performance ever!! Testify, Bulls on Parade and Bullet in the Head went off but nothing came close to Killing in the Name Of, the energy in the middle was amazing. Apparantly they are bringing out a CD in April and possibly touring again next year to promote their album, if so I would do anything to see them in an enclosed venue.

I'm going to Perth tomorrow, but unfortunately not for BDO personally because i don't have a ticket! My bf is going though, and will no doubt find him staggering through the door at midnight a hyperventilating mess after seeing Rage!
