But I will Steve! Gee Steve you change that high your what? About 20 years my senior (sorry to point that out) and your drive your car harder than me, I only change at 3000rpm or 3500rpm depends who I need to overtake. I think I need to give you my stereo so you can pump out your Miles Davis and drive with one hand on your steering wheel with your sunglasses and straw hat (the one from small ford sunday) on!

I don't thrash the car. Most of the time, my gearchanges are as follows...

1st to 2nd = 3200rpm
2nd to 3rd = 3000rpm
3rd to 4th = 2800rpm
4th to 5th = 80km/h

Though I have been known to hit 6000rpm from time to time... its not a frequent occurance.

I'm pretty soft on the fez most of the time (well when the missus is in the car with me anyway) Usually shift at 3500 - 4000 with the odd bilp out to 6 to hear the nice engine note growl through the firewall...

But if i really want a thrash and some noise i just jump in the cortina and take the old kent x-flow out to 7500... now thats noisy!

I got my stock exhaust put back on my god, what a pleasure to drive now !!!!!!!

QUIET lol.

The Fiesta isnt all that fast in a straight line, so i mainly put my foot down when cornering, you can usually find me in 3rd gear holding it through corners with a big smile on my face. And occasionally downchanging to second and redlining it all the way to 6,900 ish Apollo sounds gorgeous.

Also worth mentioning, i let my car idle and warm up before its driven anywhere and i service my car every 3 thousand kms. New oil filter and new completely synthetic shell helix ultra oil.

So i keep her in check

I think you might call my driving "sedate", with the wife & the baby and/or the mother-in-law in the car most of the time.

When driving alone, however, I pop in some Metallica, Drowning Pool or Pantera and just let 'er rip!

Drowning Pool's "The Game" and "Sinner" and good driving songs.

Anyway, to keep this thread on-topic: No, I don't thrash the Fez often enough.

Crispy, the specs for your Cotina are pure porn. Reminds me of my old Capri, had the 1600 built up similar. Can't beat the feeling of the second barrel opening on a Weber. Wonder if twin side draughts would fit on a Fez?

Haha. Drowning Pool. I bought their CD a few years back on special for about $10. Not bad. Not good. Lets just leave it at that. If you want good metal there is only one provider: Rammstein. Awesome.

Swaytan, you said that you fanged your Fez right out of the box to "properly" wear-in the engine so it can perform better than have better economy.

Well i pretty much drive it normally for the first 4000kms or so. Is it too late?

I wouldn't take that as gospel.

No offence to Sway at all but I CANNOT see how fanging the absolute knacker out of a brand new car constantly and relentlessly can be good regardless of what the old one felt like (maybe Sway you had a bad WP, I dont kow). Do yourself a favour and keep driving like a normal considerate road user.

if you run a new engine at high revs most the time it will wear so that it runs best at hig revs

No it wont ull just **** the engine.....and ive got a focus not fez but i drive the **** out of it. not so much pure speed but around the corners (gotta love that 6 speed and big brakes).....the engines great but the rest of the car feels it.....blown two shock and got free brake pads cause i wore them under 20,000km...also burn through tires......its prolly also got something to do with taking it on the track alot.
