My criteria:
Never use the rear seats. Find driving manual fun now. I like driving a 3 door (Toyota echo) and parking it easier than my falcon. Want something with a bit of go. $30k budget. Prefer warranty (so a G6et in my budget is tight). A falcon must have leather seats and colour ICC (my old xr6 had premium sound, leather, dual zone climate. Anything less would feel tacky to me) That's my criteria, hence why i drew up a table to help make a decision. For my budget i can either wait for a brand new fiesta or an old turbo falcon with a few kays on the clock. |

If this comes in anywhere near $30k before on-roads, it is in for a world of hurt. It needs to undercut the 208GTi which is expected at just under $30k before on-roads, and which is significantly dearer in the UK. The polo GTI starts at just under $28k and I think is a natural competitor to the fiesta ST.

I dont reckon it will undercut the 208.
Remember the GTi is auto only aswell, some people want a manual. So thats a plus for the ST. MISTA FIESTA, i know the 2 guys that spotted it

I want one, have to have one. need one!
Unfortunately, need money for that exercise.... Will have to continue to love my current Zetec instead. (if anyone hasnt seen it, top gear UK compared the fiesta ST, a Peugeot 208 GTi and a renault clio on their most recent tv show. Warning.. it wont help your bank accounts!)

I think it needs to undercut the Polo GTI, or at least match it in price, given the Polo is an auto (yes, I know it's not a "real" gearbox for some of you, but they are usually about $2k more).
Anyway, here's some footage of someone driving a Fiesta ST on the Nurburgring. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4EGZlNmvU4

I was holding out for this, but the realistic view that is was gonna be ~$30k, and it is still a front wheel drive ford...
Just sold my '09 Zetec with 32,km, for a princely $9000(resale on these at the moment is awful, especially with new car finance at 1%). Standing by for delivery of my 86 GTS. coming in at $37,000, i think i made the right choice. |

Yes, the Fiesta has been winning comparos in the UK for being more fun to drive than the 208 and the new Clio Sport (auto only), but the fact that it is cheaper over there has been helping it too. As I said, if it isn't the 'cheap option' in Australia, it might have sales problems. |

How's that troll on there saying that 10 seconds is a long time when you've just had a crash bad enough to set off the airbags!

You need to download the full episode via a torrent.
You need a torrent client such as Vuze. http://www.vuze.com/ Just be careful when installing it as you will need to decline add on's and untick boxes that will install search toolbars. Once installed, click on the link in graham_h's post. Select one of the torrent sites and clck on it. This will download the torrent. Click on it and it will automatically open Vuze. Depending on your Internet speed it could take from 10 minutes to several hours to download the show. |

If it's 17k in Brittan, which equals ~28k here, with shipping costs + Aussie reaming fees, that's has to be 30k + ORC = ~34.5k total.

If it does come in at $34.5k it makes the demo Focus STs look cheap at ~$38k, and they make the FG XR6T look like a total bargain!
Peugeot are getting the 208 GTi, which is ~19k in UK here for $29,990+ORC. |

But how does that conversion compare to the Zetec pricing from there to here? I thought there was only a couple of grand different between the zetec and st over there?
Cheers, Duke *edited out what i said about shipping. St is made in Germany. New fiesta 5door is from Thailand. Last edited by NanoDuke; 03-07-2013 at 10:12 AM. |
