I read this in the Herald Sun yesterday, on a positive note, Holden are saying they may replace it with a Corvette !
Imagine going to the Holden dealer and seeing brand new Corvette's forsale. |

Hmm maybe we will get hold of the LS7. If so, I don't think too many people will be sad to see the Monaro go
Some say its just a two door Cdore, but wasn't the original one just a two door Kingswood/Belmont/Premier/whatever? I saw a Monaro parked next to the old shape Merc CLK... Just no comparision, the two door Commodore still looks good after all these years imo. Even if it is similar to the Volvo C70. |

its only the australian/NZ coupes that are no longer going to be produced. all export coupes are still going to be built.
they're not stopping production of the local coupes because they can't sell them. they've sold six times as many cars as they'd predicted they would.... |

I wonder if this will be the new Monaro..if it ever comes to Australia?
These are pics based on artwork and design notes of the 2008 GTO from this site http://www.autoweek.com/news.cms?newsId=102907 and here http://motortrend.com/future/spied/112_0505_spied01/ |

I hope to God that its not that- Monaro apparently turning about 200 units a month..Glad they still did make it and I don't think they brought the Monaro name to disrepute at all unlike certain other blast from the past excersises! :

Shame to see the Monaro go though. I really like them. The current model looks so tough. |

The Holden Monaro could have a stay of execution as an exclusive high-performance model - if 11th-hour talks are successful.

Also read today the Monaro 427 is making a comeback. A Queensland company will be producing a limited run of 500 units at a cost of $215'000. Sorry I have not much info on this.. but yes, Monaro 427 is GO!

Yep.. it's true. But nothing like the red 427 concept apparently. Supercharged, with a Poniac GTO based bodykit is a couple of many things that are different. Wish I could remember the web site in that article I read.

Article from the UK's Auto Express talking about the demise of the "Vauxhall Monaro". Seems it was a little more popular there than was expected, maybe a certian Jeremy Clarkson had something to do with that...

i should read all the articles but eh, so its going to be built offshore for 2 other markets. they can be made both left and right hand drive, why not just sell a few units here, just to keep it alive.
i can see why stopped selling here, i mean its a 97 commodore coupe with 2003 interior. not saying its a s**t car cause i like the fact that holden brought it back. its just that it needed updating. although i doubt anything major would have been worth it. but seriosuly how many did they think they were gonna flog each year here? its a coupe in a big country where people like sedans. or need sedans.

Hmm in that article they talk of possibly exporting the Calais or SS. That would be awesome to get more exposure in the world. Why arent Ford Australia looking for this opportunity? Yeah there is Ford all around the world but there is also different models in different countries.

According to Vauxhall the HSV version will continue until March '06, from then on it is available 'on a demand basis'. No demand, no more cars. The Vauxhall Monaro VXR (HSV GTO) wont go past the end of '06. BUT, it is believed that Vauxhall are negotiating with Holden/HSV for sedans (SS, Clubby) from Jan. '07.
