These days I just sit and listen in awe of the excuses, reasons and any other corroborating evidence he can come up with as to why he and his band of cohorts are always right. It just blows me away as I never had half as many angles when I was growing up. Damn 'puters and such, kids should be out back wheeling a stripped bicycle rim with a stick for entertainment, I tell ya...lol |

It's not just the youngins...
In Western Vic following a car in 100kph no-overtaking zone. Highway Patrol on other side of road finishing off booking someone. Woman in front of me slows to 80kph. Guy behind me seems to be getting impatient. Guy behind me seems to be getting more impatient. Guy behind me seems to be getting even more impatient. Guy behind me plants boot and overtakes us both. Highway Patrol behind guy turns on lights and siren. Bet Guy wished he looked in the rear mirror first.

Makes me wonder about the whole 'they only pick on me bbecause I am a p plater' thing. I had a tarted up Skyline on my Ps, lowered, big rims, etc....didnt drive like a maniac and didnt get nicked. Pretty simple stuff.

Had a local copper pull me over a couple of weekends ago, because I had no brake lights.....He was polite informing me about it...So whilst on the side of the road with him doing the licence check, I checked and found the fuse blown....Being the old glass ones, and being a smoker, a bit of alfoil from the ciggy packet and voila fixed....Had the copper check it was fixed too, so a win win situation....
On the subject of what the thread....Problem is common courtesy doesn't exist that much anymore....Still doesn't stop me being polite to other motorists about lights being out...They either flip me the bird or thank me....either way, it's still common courtesy....

like most have said not relevant to youngsters but more so a portion of todays society that has money to spend on "better" things and believing what they call safe with a car. My car is always in perfect road worthy status, but then most if not all people on AFF are in the same position. And I would like to be warned of blown bulbs etc as I certainly dont have time to walk around my car each and every time I go somewhere.
Thank god we have WOFs here in NZ as it keeps a relatively good standard of cars on the road. |

It's always a fun time trying to get the attention of someone to say that their tyre is flat. Almost impossible, they think you're trying to road rage them :
I actually seen one chick driving and the wheel was wobbling everywhere. Needless to say I tried to point it out and having failed put a lot of distance between that person and me. How the hell could you not notice that is beyond me. |

Some people just have no clue. Oh, my car is making a funny noise. I'll turn the radio up so it stops annoying me and Im sure it will go away.
Another irk of mine is seeing a car driving around on a space saver that quite obviously has been driven on for a lot longer than just up to the tyre place. I used to try and let people know when they had busted globes and such. I dont bother so much anymore, too many people just dont want to know. And those bloody trees, I have come across some on the bike that are like jackrabbits.

Haha too funny, and next thing the car is in fire as the wiring has gone up in smoke as the fuse that possibly blew for a reason is now no longer functional, and unable to stop the wiring loom from melting and starting a vehicle fire.

As a consequence of my line of work (psychologist), I try not to invest anything in strangers nor do I take on their many, many problems. If I have no stake or interest, I usually leave them to their own devices.

I am that "Jake"
I always get asked the questions at home. Pain in the neck at times. Especially when you get asked to explain the answer and they still don't get it

What concerns me most about this story is...In the time it took for you to fill up pay and pull out she had time to arrive, put fuel in, have a conversation, pay, laugh at the old fella, get in her car and get on down the road and be pulled up before you had finished filling up. Says something about our gas guzzlers doesn't it Just Joking JP |

As a "youngster" i do understand why the young community do these things, but coming from a country background with a good peer group i dont engage in these antics that 'young' people undertake as i never had this peer pressure as i had much better things to do. With all respect to the young community around IMO the young community nowadays has no respect towards the other generations that are on the road, i must admit that i do get impatient when driving behind drivers but i always abide to road rules as i respect them because i value my licence and at night time i am very respectful of any noise that is produced which means i crawl around the neighbourhood that i live in now not to wake or disrupt anyone.
Although this is just rambling on, the final answer to this is how the person respects the other drivers on the road and how they portray rules and boundaries that are set in by the government. Just my 2 cents Brad

Why it blew....The car in question was made in 1971...So I'd better go back to the manufacturer and complain my 42 year old fuse blew, so I want it replaced under warranty.... Finally I had the spare wheel, trolley jack, wheel brace, replacement radiator hoses, heater hoses, coolant, oil and light globes....I over looked the stupid fuses.... So time to take me out the back and give me a good talking down too..

Ahh yes, the old "I know best" attitude. Thank God I am finally coming out of it. It may have only been a couple of years ago, but I look but to how I was when I was 17/18, and just think to myself "What the Hell was I thinking". And I for one knew I was no where near as bad as some people I went to school with (unfortunately one has passed as he was riding a dirtbike down the road [unlicensed, no helmet] and collided with a car - he was only 18). I can feel myself getting better, but it is not happening quick enough

all the 'tut tutting' of the youngsters. it has been that way since adam was a boy. thankfully most of us grow up. karma is when we have teenage kids of our own. then we find out how it felt for our parents. |
